Default Going to VEGAS BABY!

Yeah it will be my first time.
Just wondering from those that have been...what was the most exciting thing that you did during your visit?

I was thinking about the driving experience and visiting Carrol Shelby..what else?

We are not much for gambling, but we enjoyed our trip nonetheless. We took in just about all the Hotel Casino's for the sights. Some are pretty impressive and really nice to see.
We took in the Caesar's Forum shops. You can get lost in there. Hoover dam, of course. Pretty impressive. You have to be into that kind of thing though.
We were only there for a few days, we actually went because my good friend asked me to be witness to his marriage. Yes, Vegas wedding are as cliche and cheeky as seen on TV. It was great! He got married at the Monte Carlo as part of a hotel wedding package.
The queen and my daughter went to see Celine's show, which they loved. I personally can't stand her voice. Not that I don't like her, I just don't like her singing, so I skipped that.
I was going to go see Penn and Teller, but they were off the night I was able to go.
there is plenty to do and see without gambling. You should enjoy it.

I went there when I was in high school with my father to a NASCAR race. It's a very nice track. The parking lot sucks as there is only 2 exits. I have not been there since I was old enough to gamble, but if you need any gambling tips simply give me a call before you place a bet. Whatever I tell you to bet on, just do the opposite and you should be fine

Walk on past the slot machines and play blackjack. Your money will last longer IMO.

If you're there for a few days take a car ride around the area. Do the dam/lake thing.

Ride the monorail as far as it'll take you. I haven't been there in two years so I'm not sure how it will go. But it sure saves some time in getting anywhere. Buy the “day pass”.

Definitely do the Freemont Experience in the old part of town, after sunset of course.

Have a great time and let me know how it goes. I plan on going out there in July so don’t break the bank.

The wife and I were there last Easter and will be back in early Feb. this year.
My wife had always wanted to stay at Bellagios, so my youngest son sent us as
a Christmas present. This year he gave us tickets again, including tickets to Elton John.

I don't know which cost more, the malls or the slots!

Easter weekend was busy, so we are arriving on a Sunday and leaving on a
Thursday.

Just as long as it is not raining.

If you can get tickets, the Cirque du Soleil shows are excellent. I saw "O" last time I was in Las Vegas - unbelievable. The stage is a huge tank of water with movable floors - you'll see someone jump into the water and disappear, and a few seconds later, someone will run across the stage right where the other one dived in.

If you want to get the most for your gambling dollar, there are different opinions on this. Some say that Blackjack is the only game where you stand a chance of winning against the house - but even this is questionable. The "fairest" game is still Poker - in this case, the house gets a small piece of each pot, but they are not involved in the game itself.

Its 106 miles to Chicago. We have a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, its dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

Hey, psycho, we're not getting back together. Now get out of my Van Halen t-shirt before you jinx the band and they break up.

The ride that shoots you in the air on top of the Stratosphere hotel was pretty cool. If you golf they have a few of those around there. If you’re looking for a little companionship you can find plenty of that.

Have a good time!!

Yah, if you like rides you gotta go to the Big Shot on top of the Stratosphere, 4G's at over a thousand feet going 45 miles and negative G's on the way down.
Don't forget to hit the Buffet. The World Carnival Buffet at the Rio is excellent.
Slots are always fun, no skill needed.
If you know how to play, try your luck at a Hold'em tournament.
The Star Trek experience at the Las Vegas Hilton is cool too or check if there is a UFC match going on if your in to that.
They also rent motorcycles there.
Have fun and remember what goes on in Vegas stays in Vegas.

Penn and Teller
Blue Man Group

Avoid the Prince show unless you like paying $125/ea to stand for 3hrs+ before the talented midget even makes it to the stage. I say 3+ because when my friends went it was 3hrs for them and they were told it was even longer the previous show. BTW the seats were $400/ea. They also said the opening band was crap. Booed after every song.

All of the above are very, very nice.

However, if you're interested in a topless cabaret then you should try "The Olympic Garden" (they have a website too), its right on Las Vegas Blvd...it could very well be the best club you've ever gone to.

Just my 2 cents.

Shoot Pete, I was there just last weekend! One of my favorite parts of Vegas is the general sense of "lawlessness" there. But perhaps my most favorite part is the drive there (as long as there's daylight). Growing up in the Midwest, I'll probably always be in awe when looking at mountains.

Good point Mr Klein....

Coming from NY, a friend of mine and I were taken aback when we got there. We stopped off at a lil store so he could pick up a trinket for his wife & realized we would need refreshments to make our way back to the hotel.

It came as quite a shock to us NY boys to find we were allowed to walk around with an extra large beer, in a large glass container, with no problems.

That's a big No No up here. You get a ticket for an open container...and if it was glass...potentially a weapons charge.

If you ever come to Europe, let someone else drive. You'll just have an accident staring at the Alps towering in front of you as you drive south towards Berne or Lucerne.

Cirque du Soleil amazing!
The buffet at the Rio is also well worth the money. Imagine a buffet with all you can eat alaskan king crab!
I've been to Vegas a few times and Now everytime I go I rent a Harley! I'd definitely recommend it, even if you're not a "Harley" guy. Great way to see Hoover Dam and such. Red Rock Cannon is a very short drive from the strip.
Be warned getting tickets to big shows can be VERY difficult, book either before you get there or as soon as you land. Vegas is the one place you could rent a ferrari and take it to the desert and open it up, gotta love VEGAS!!!
