|  Chinese sidecar bike
Hi all, Brought an old 1962 sidecar cycle back from China last year. It is 750cc, shaft drive and nicely restored.... based 1938? BMW R71/75 engineering (germans -> russians-> chinese ). I dont ride it much because it keeps plugging up its spark plug on one side only with black sooty crud in about 10 mi of riding and then the bike conks out. I know it is a rich mixture issue on that carb but cant seem to tune it out with the lean adjust screw. I believe they are chinese made carbs and I cant get a manual. Local service folks say "get that piece of Chinese junk (it isnt !) out of here". SIGH..... Any ideas? Is there a different carb made for old BMW that might fit ? Anybody near Portland Oregon know how to work on these? I assume this will inspire some wit and am looking forward to that too... GRIN... merry christmas ! Annie |
