Default Riding in High Winds

Nearly had the stuffing scared out of me on the way home yesterday.

I was cruising along on the Interstate, its a 3 laner and all were full of traffic. I had made it to the left lane and had just cleared a pack of cagers & was finally riding with the majority of the cages behind me.

Then it happened. A freaking 50-60 mph gust of wind hit me square on the side, just as I had reached the crest of a hill. The bike actually angled sideways (while I was still going straight) as if I were leaning into a turn.

I saw the road coming up quick & knew I had enough cages behind me to do way more harm than good. I just heaved her back up straight and I was fine...but man...what a shocker!

I was running along at about 75 to 80 mph (it's a 65 mph road) and all I would have had to have done was lose my focus for a fraction of a second & I would have been done for.

I can remember hearing the in-helmet commentary come on, saying...."You Lucky Sonovabiotch!"
