Workers at a manufacturing plant were allowed to take home packing materials, since the plant had to pay to have the stuff hauled off as trash. To avoid theft, the packing materials were searched on leaving the plant and workers were warned that any theft would lead to dismissal. One worker took out a wheelbarrow full of packing materials each night and the gate guard searched the packing materials each night for contraband without finding anything. Finally, the worker retired and was awarded his pension and a gold watch. As he left for the last time, the guard who had been searching the packing materials for all these years took the retired worker aside and said. "Look, I know you've been stealing all these years, but I never could find anything. You're retired now, so they can't fire you. I've just got to know, what have you been stealing???" The retired worker replied....... Wait for it... "Wheelbarrows."  |
