Default Trip to O.C.C.

417.6 miles round trip may not be very long for many of you, but it was my longest one day event so far. I rediscovered parts which I have long forgotten, and received quite a sunburn where the helmet didn’t cover, but it was well worth the trip!

My friend invited me to go with a local HOG riders group. Nine H.D.s, one Honda, and me. The fun started right away when one guy asked if mine was an 1800. “Yes it is” I said proudly while basking in the compliments. Finally, I corrected the inaccuracy, and the fun continued. “I don’t ----ing believe it, you’re ----ing me, right?” “I can’t believe thats only an 800!” No one gave me any grief over my non-HD.

We took route 8 South from Utica, NY to route 17 East to Montgomery. The weather was just right, and the scenery was worth the trip.

The choppers are more impressive in person than on the tube. The "Boys" were at Sturgis, and apparently took some of my favorites with them. The display of bikes was still amazing...

My fun didn’t end there, though. While in the store, I looked out to find that my bike was closely examined by quite a number of people. A bit of irony, I think!

Sounds like you had a good time. Did you get any pics of those guys when you were there?

Bummer, I wished I knew a fellow Zuki rider was gonna be there. I would have rolled up too...I'm only about 45 minutes from there (Montgomery).

Let me know next time you head down this way...I'm in Putnam County, but ride all over Putnam, Dutchess, Orange & Westchester Counties...as well as Connecticut.

I was gonna ask if it was Brewster or Carmel.

I got folks there in Brewster. Up on the hill over the train station.

Well....I'm very close to that. Might be 2 miles (or less) from my house.

Just let me know...I'm always looking for an excuse to ride.

Heading over to OCC myself this weekend...or sooner. I've been taking Thurs & Fridays off the whole month of August...nothing like 4 days of riding...every darn week!

So, if the weather holds out...I might just go Thursday morning.

I could use a new t-shirt.

Didn't really take OCC that seriously until they started building their own frames. Now they are actually a motorcycle company. Watched the show last night and have to admit i'm interested in their production bikes for dealers to network. Any idea on the price? I might go as high as $25,000 but beyond that I'd just as soon buy 4 or 5 "regular" bikes. Or 1 really nice Ducati. May take the trip there anyway next year just for the look see.

Me too!
Was watching it last night & thought it was worth taking a look too. I looked over their website & there really isn't any info (pricing).

I'll try to get as much pricing info as I can & will let you know.

I just read where the OCC guys will be having a float in the local labor day parade on the 9th (Montgomery, NY). I might just go back for that.

That sounds cool. I wish NY wasn't so far away. I had the best time when I was there on my Rebel last year. You guys in the east have some great roads and even better scenary. Can't wait to get back out there. Think I'll take the S50 next time.
