Wrong again soupbone.

Actually altough it's rated to -40 ,if your windshield isn't warm enough when you use it it'll clean the glass smartly giving you clear vision for about 3 seconds before starting to crystalize on the glass as the alcool evaporates.

It's actually sort of a pretty site like a kaleidoscope except you can no longer see where you're going.

Cars get very dirty up here in the winter, road spray is full of salt and is thrown up by cars ahead of you. It dries almost instantly on your windshield making seeing where you're going impossible. That's when you use windshield washer fluid rated to below 40. I've used over a gallon a day last couple of days.

Same here. And the spare gallon I had in the trunk (around here, you NEED a spare gallon even to go to the corner store....especially to go to the corner store) but I found out it had a leak. 90% of the fluid ended being in my trunk... not very helpful to clear your windshield.

Im still wanting to get somewhere this snow season and have some fun. Plans are being made, but Im not so sure, I will be able to handle all the temps that Im seeing and all the news stories as well.

I have not yet had the experience of riding in snow. Has anyone else, or would it be a really stupid thing to do?

Regards
Dwayne

Its 106 miles to Chicago. We have a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, its dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

Hey, psycho, we're not getting back together. Now get out of my Van Halen t-shirt before you jinx the band and they break up.

Going to pick up the Bobmobile right now.

I know what you guys are talking about, pluggin in your car. My Dad has an 2003 F350 diesel and when he goes hunting or somewhere extremely cold, he plugs it in, so it will stay warm and start. Am I right?

It's an engine block heater. Warms up the engine block (duh!) and the oil. Makes it easier to start and its nicer for your engine. It doesn't warm up the inside of the car. I'm being carpooled and my favorite ride has heated seats, God I love that in godawful temperature.

Personnally, my vision of Hell is that 's its covered in ice and they make youwork with metal shovels with no gloves on.

Where does he hunt ? shouldn't have any problems or need to plug it in with a diesel engine if it's more than -10 f.

I suppose you could ride a 600cc four wheeler in the snow though. That probably could be quite fun. And you won't fall over...

There a huge amont of people doing that alright for quite a few years. There are also important clubs for four wheelers. I've even seen some dedicated tracks (I mean separate from snowmobiles) for them in the country side.

actually the oil doesn't warm up, only radiant heat gets to the oil. There are auxilary heaters you can get for the oil, it's a flat metal heater that straps to the bottom of the oil pan.

Actually a lot of dirtbike riders do ride in the snow, when the base is packed they can get around pretty well. Some use studded tires. Also a contingent of ice riders who screw in 2 inch longs studs on their tires.

Can't be that bad in Toronto. I'm pretty sure Ottawa is colder than Toronto.
