Working tonight...still had time to watch.
Wasn't the outcome I was hoping for, but some intense moments!
Congrats Carolina and fans. The right team won.
The real kick in the teeth is that it's been 13 years since the Cup has rested in Canada!

That's what made living in igloos worth it all.

Next year... she's coming home!

Well since hockey started up again this year I've never really got to watch a game. It's too hard to find on TV around here with the new network deal.

But I enjoyed watching the whole finals. Very worthwhile match.

Look at it this way, the Canadians living in North Carolina won the cup!

like people said 2 years ago...the lightning only had 1 american player on the team. so yeah, the cup is in the states, but won by players from a melting pot of nations.

Yeah but that's hockey. I just retired from playing that all my life. It's been 14 years now since Canada has won the Stanley Cup; however, when I was growing up...they at that time were unbeatable...at least to me they were.

heck yeah....i grew up watching Gretzky, Messier, Fuhr, Tikanen, Mcsorely, McTavish et al. in the 80's and they WERE nearly perfect! the Canadiens of the 70's (not exactly sure of when) were nearly perfect for years and years.

but there were only 22 teams back then and 16 of them made the playoffs. Now that the league has expanded and there is more parity, and more US teams, (with some teams even leaving Canada and moving to the US) it can be expected that US teams will win more often then they did in the 60's 70's and 80's. its simple probability!

I sure hope so. I grew up playing hockey..getting my rear beat to a pulp by those Canadians. Now I'm engaged to one...a Newfoundlander no less...and this has been a hard year for sports and Canada vs the USA..heck in the world playing...they beat the USA. I just didn't expect the Red Wings to go down like they did. But yeah what a game. That one goal the Oils got..I even told my fiance...that was so "Canadian."

Each time though..the USA wins the cup...I always seem to hear..."well most players are Canadian anyway on the team...so *we* still won." Or, "Canadians come to the USA just because they pay more."

I was concerned last night that the Oilers were going to win...but they didn't. So I can still say..."whatever players...what country won huh?" Or say, "America won again..and...when the time does come for Canada to win..maybe it's time to just move."

Oilers made a great run, since they barely made the playoffs.

Yes they sure did...they should be proud...yet..I've been there..as most everyone has...Their coach did tell them that they should be proud...coming from where they had..to what they had accomplished..yet...this is "Hockey" so the response would be, "Thank you for your kind words.....but, *screw second*"
