Default People Want Bikes For the Wrong Reasons...

I know I am not the only one but I thought I should start a thread on some of the most ridicolous reasons why ppl want motorcycles. Today at work Im talking to a guy with NO LICENSE but claims he has been riding for years, he knows I ride so he comes and ASK MY OPINION on what bike should he get. I recommend him to get a Ninja500 or gs500 suddenly I get the wrinkeled forehead and a grunt than he goes into this rant about how those bikes and i qoute "Dont look agressive enough and are not chick magnets" in my head im puzzeled why is the common trend to get bikes that LOOK great but the riders or so called one have no idea what they are getting themsleves into. What are some of the excuses or reasons that you have heard.

That's the whole story right there. Either you enjoy riding and buy a bike that suits you or you're a big 'ol poser riding to be seen.

Fortunately we weed those types out here fairly quickly.

I bought my bike because it suited me. Not everyone likes it but I do. I'm the one that has to live with it. So to those that buy bikes to look cool I say enjoy it. It won't be long before it's all banged up.

What gets me is when a guy, license, or not, makes his first bike a 1900cc Yammie, barely knows how to stand it up (not to mention ride it), and all he does is ride 15 interstate miles back, and forth to bars at 120++mph with it..... Needless to say, I don't ride with him!

Anyhow, sounds like the same kind of mentality Gabriel.....

Hey Troy, kinda like this guy on E-bay. I translate the description as this: "My buddies convinced me, a first time buyer, to buy this big *ssed bike that is WAY to powerful for a Noob like me, and I've dropped it a couple of times. I can't turn it properly in a corner, and if I hit a bump, and my right wrist twists the throttle by accident, the bike jumps forward hard enough for me to soil my shorts. Now I'm scared as hell, and I just want out of the bike!

IMHO most ridiculous reason to buy a bike is because it gets "GREAT" gas mileage and I will save money.

I bought my bike so I could be a Stunta!

I already wore out the front tire and brakes practicing my stoppies.

Oh and the chicks, the chicks dig it!!!

Well the gas mileage is the reason I used to legitimize me buying the Wee-Strom. Well in fact that is the same reason I used also to help legitimize the "LC" also. It really helped me to buy it becuase I wanted one but I guess I needed some extra legitimizing points.

So hush. LOL!!!!!! But the ability of them being chick magnets is cool too.

A side plus about them is I do enjoy riding,,,.

Ya, like those two stunties (aka for SQUID), that died promptly after doing 100++mph wheelies on 75/85 a couple of weekends ago. Wonder if they still look cool upon transport to the morgue???

i like stuff that has wheels on it. and it's like riding a ten speed only 10 on steroids and 2)without the wear and tear on the knees.

i like the fact that i can do much, although not all, of the work on the bike myself.
i like the fact that for me it is a man magnet(the actual real life word i use rhymes with chick though).
i like that riding it saves fuel which means my concience doesn't bother me so much when i need some me time on the road.

and i really dig leather. i mean REALLY. like i couldn't really think most of the dragon ride since i was surrounded by so many hotties in leather...

The leathers made me hot. Literally. Out of racetrack shape. You didn't hear me complaining though.

By the way honey, you ain't seen nothin' yet in regards to leather.

P.S. A riding crop is more effective than a whip.

actually the gas mileage thing was my reason for getting into biking. I had an old bronco 2 that got about 23mpg which really isn't bad, but I wanted better. I originally was looking at "scooters" thank goodness I realized I could get a bike for the same if not cheaper price then some. Then I just fell in love with them and now save no gas whatsoever as my bike barely gets better mileage then the car and I ride all the time.

Now Now gibson LOL, but on a seriou tip another co-worker came over to my desk joking that the co-worker i gave the advice to had a new name for me hes calling me "Beginner Bike Boy" I guess telling anyone in the office willing to listen how I recommended in my opinion a bike best fitting his skill level but to him a girly girl and beginner bike. Also he was nice enough to print a picture of a BMX and the rider has fully leather on, he wrote on the pic my name when I first got my motorcycle license hmmm this guy is getting on my nerves makes you not want to give advice.

Be careful out there Gaby. Think with the larger of your two heads, and don't let folks get on your nerves.... One of the major things that changes folks from being bikers, to being dead bikers is that they ride beyond their ability. Whatever anyone else is pushing you to do, always, ALWAYS, ride your own ride.... And have fun doing it!!!!!! That's my $.02.
