Funny as hell, but bad thing about buying a bike like that.... You have to clean the crap-stained seat off!!!!!

Unfortunately, the guy I was eluding to earlier in the post probably won't have much of a scooter to sell after he gets done with it (or it him)....... You don't do stupid sheeeitee on Atlanta interstates too long without some pretty serious consequences.

the funny thing about guys wanting to get a bike because its a chick magnet.. is that 90% of girls dont' know the difference between say my gs500 and a ducati... lol

for the chicks that would want a guy for a bike.. they know nothing about them anyways, they just see two wheels and think its hot

I try not to hang out with chicks like that.... They tend to get on at the wrong time, and try to topple my bike! Or burn their legs on my pipes, and damnit, I hate lawsuits!!!! But, there again, if they're cute enough.....

a hick magnet?!

i like to think that those who adore women on motorcycles are a more upscale, sophisticated assembly of socialites.

on another note, i find it amusing when people without bikes make fun of those who actually ride one. you should find a picture of Kellen Winslow, put his name on it with the title "Expert Riding Genious".

I don't think that's what Sunny was implying, but I'll leave that to her.....

I had always wanted to ride, but never did when I was younger. Not that I'm old at 39, but you know what I mean! My father got his lic, three years ago, and that was my sign that it's never too late to start! I knew i wanted a cruiser, just because with my need for speed, I'd find myself in danger with a sport bike, and I just wanted to be comfortable and enjoy a relaxing ride.

I looked at sportsters, since I just had to have a HD. Then one day out of the blue, buying a full face helmet, I ran across my Silver and White Volusia. I just fell in love with the look and price. It didn't hurt that while researching the Sportster, I had a magazine or two listing the Vol as best in class. I was hooked. I even got a good deal since the next model year was coming out!

After that, when I started getting CC envy, I rode about 7-8 different bikes, I've listed my test rides before, so I won't do that again here, but the Road Star just had more of what I was looking for in my "keeper" bike. the Vol was a great starter bike, and excelent for most riding, but I found that I really liked just jumping on and riding all day, and the larger displacement really makes highway riding a lot more relaxed!

Anyway, back on topic a bit, I think some folks just say what they think will impress you when they talk about bikes. Even folks that know ya act like the whole "biker" image comes with the title to the bike. Meeting folks riding for the first time, or just talking about bikes, some tend to "pose a bit. Hopefully, sites like this one give riders, or future riders, a place to bounce around ideas, and get their head straight, before making a bad buy! I know that if I had bought that Sporty, it just would not have been the right fit for me, and I'm glad a lucky day had me run into the Vol at the right time. I think I made the right choice, kind of by accident! Hopefully we can all have an influence by being half decent examples. I get concerned now since my fiance is learning to ride, and getting back into some good habits that had fallen out of favor with me. The biggest is getting my full face back on more often. The first helmet she bought was a 1/2, and it reminded me that folks really watch what we ALL do, without us realizing it. I had always told her I had gotten into a bad habit of wearing the half (see sig pick), and now I want her to wear a full face, and now she is going to pick one up.

Hope this wasn't too long winded. It has come full circle with the example of my finace seeing me with the half shell, and thinking that is the riight thing to do. That is part of what makes me think the "posers" see the bad, or "cool", side of things and think that is the way to go!

Probably half of the riders out there ride because they want to "look cool". The guys on crotch rockets buy them during the summer because they're incapable of getting girls otherwise. Those are the guys that will be selling a "like new Gixxer" come fall. The cruisers wanna look like bad boys with their leather and half helmets (if that) and want people to be intimidated by them because in real life they're middle-aged, out of shape, and very insecure about themselves. At least that's how I view the poser crowd of motorcycling.

Hey I'm not out of shape!!!!! Well maybe a little. Well ok,,so I need to hit the gym. But I'm no poser. Well i do like my half shell. But I do have several assorted full face helmets.

Whatever their reason for getting one. As long as they go about it the right way they may be or may not be posers. But as long as they learn and enjoy it,, that is what will perpetuate the art of motorcycling.

Just keep in mind that at one time NASCAR was a redneck, tobacco chewing, beer guzzling sport. Now it is a hip yuppie outing.

You guys can thank Harley Davidson for creating the poser. With the overpriced name of anything Harley they have made it vitually too expensive for your stereotyped biker dude to purchase a bike. Let alone buy the products. But they managed to create the best marketing strategy in History.

People will buy t-shirts, underwear, bras, shorts, cups, pens, ties, shoes, hats, signs, posters, and even Barbie dolls just because of the Harley Davidson logo on it. And they will pay three to four times more for it. Then in the art of looking cool they will go and buy that softail or dynaglide to wax all week, pull out on a Sunday, gear up with everything Harley, ride up the street, and then back to the garage.

Joe Biker cannot afford the $45,000 it takes to ride with that image. So the only ones who can are the rich, well to do, and the yuppies that want to ride their Harley to the NASCAR event.

Good Job Harley Davidson!!!! So ask yourself this the next time a Harley dude with his clean Harley Davidson outfit won't wave back at you,,,, "Does he ride to dream,,, or dream to ride?"

Default Lets admit it

Lets all admit it, we originally wanted a bike because it showed as as being unique to an extent that would thus in turn, get us attention. We were all wannabes, and then noobs, at one point in our lives, even if you were started young by your parents on small minibikes, then you're just a younger noob.
Who can resist add slogans such as "You meet the nicest people on a Honda, when you're "letting the good times roll". Who can forget the sexual innuendos of the recent harley commercial with a bra hanging from the handle bars "Things are different when you own a harley".
