Ever since I finished school 15 years ago, I feel like I've been in a time warp. I've often said to my friends that I feel like I live a month at a time. Now, I'm in my late thirties and all of a sudden time has stopped in its tracks. When I decided to get my bike licence this spring, I also decided not to buy a bike until I had taken the safety cource and gotten my M2. This is mainly for insurance reasons. In Ontario, you get your M1 learners permit which you have to keep for a minimum of 60 days. I scheduled my course for the earliest slot at the end of that period, so I could immediately get my M2 after that. The downside of that plan is that I'm just aching to get on a bike and am sitting here looking at June on the calendar which is still almost a month and a half before the July 15th date of my course. It's agony!!! My office looks out over a busy street and every bike that goes by is the subject of intense scrutiny. What kind is it? Hey, he's wearing shorts and sandals! Which brand/style of the helment is that? Amazing how I've become so obsessed. Every day I go through the bike trader looking for that pefect first bike. I have noticed the prices starting to come down as people realized that, no you can't sell your two year old bike for what I can get a new one for. Oh, well maybe I'll get a chance to smell the roses this summer and not end up wondering how it went by without me noticing. |
