Default Finance Rates in the USA/Canada

I'm in the market for a new car. My 2000 VW Golf TDI has over 110,000 miles (180,000 km) on the clock, and is still in excellent condition. But, I'm ready for a new car. My girlfriend wants my Golf, so it will stay "in the family"

I'm looking at the 2007 Audi A3 Sportback quattro TDI, 2.0 liter (140 hp) engine with a diesel particle filter.

Switzerland is a funny country when it comes to financing. There are only a few banks which offer financing for vehicles, and in all cases, it's a lease. Basically, I buy the car, make an initial payment, a number of monthy installments (48 months in my case), and then decide if I just surrender the car and walk away, or purchase the car for it's "rest-value". Of course, I have planned my lease such that the rest-value is as low as possible, so I can buy the car outright at the end of the lease.

The offers I have received to-date are 5.6% effective APR, and 5.45% effective APR.

What are the interest rates in North America at the moment?
