| Hi guys, its getting really hot here. It was 34 C here in Toronto. I've seen many ppl here riding w/ wife beaters, yes u heard right! I wouldnt like to see em fall. I think I am the only 1 wearing leathers around here. I am seriously thinking about getting the mesh jackets out there. My questions would be: 1. Are they really functional? or is it just marketing? 2. What type is best? 3. Anywhere I can get it cheap in Canada or Toronto for that matter? Remember guys, u dont have to answer the question if it bothers u. Thanks |

| It looks like you have a Joe Rocket Jacket already. They make some good mesh jackets too. A mesh jacket with padding and leather in the proper places will protect you much better than going without.

| Glad to see that the warm leather we currently have doesn't get you away of proper riding gear! Mesh jackets don't provide as much protection as a full leather or full textitle jackets but they offer decent protection (at least surely more than a tshirt!) There's a few brands out there. As for shops, I don't know. If you do find an online canadian shop though, let me know please.

| Muscle Biker ![]() | How about sending some of those 34° over here???? We had SNOW down below 2000 feet last night, and the temperature this morning was about 5°C on the way to work. It has been raining every day for more than a week. Tomorrow is JUNE 1ST! And AFAIK, Switzerland is still NORTH of the equator. It is SUPPOSED to be SUMMER, DAMMIT!

| 17 Celsius at 5:30 AM ! Another 32 Celsius today, excluding the humidex factor (probably around 40-42 C) Man, so this is how it feels? I know now why the Southern Scum like to brag about the weather.

| I've had several mesh jackets, this one is the best on all counts: http://www.newenough.com/vanson_vent...acket_page.htm We've been around 90°F here since last Friday...

| It's pretty hot here too, 90's yesterday, way too hot for my TourMaster Jett jacket. I Just ordered a Joe Rocket Rio mesh jacket yesterday from newenough.com for $54.99 (closeout price). It is not as durable as a regular textile or leather jacket, but it is certainly better than nothing. -Sandman |

| I'm starting to ride with t-shirts, shorts and flip flops. Why not look like all of the other riders around here? Guess I could move over to a Harley and grow a huge belly too...

| Boz, the only place where Celsius = Fahrenheit is -40... not too fun in any scale. For the mathematically daring, here is the algebraic formula used for conversion from Fahrenheit to Celsius: Tc=(5/9)*(Tf-32) Tc=temperature in degrees Celsius Tf=temperature in degrees Fahrenheit * means multiply Now, to convert from Celsius to Fahrenheit,: Tf=(9/5)*Tc+32 Tc=temperature in degrees Celsius Tf=temperature in degrees Fahrenheit

| I have the Joe Rocket Phoenix mesh. It's very comfortable when riding in hot weather while still affording some level of protection should I go down. It's good to have protection, but if you sacrifice comfort, your mind may not be as focused on your ride. Balance out your comfort and protection so that you can concentrate on your ride and still be protected reasonably well should a fall happen. We were in the mid 90's last week in the Wichita, KS area. I just arrived in San Diego yesterday and the current temp of 79°F feels a heck of a whole lot better. Oh yeah, my JR Phoenix is with me too.

| Thanks to the ppl who replied. I am thinking that I will go to a store and then try one of the jackets to see how it fits B4 I order it online. I think that is the best way. There is no way I will order something if I dont know how it will fit. Its like ordering a mail order bride and marrying her as soon as she got off the plane, lol. Thanks for the links who provided. LOU, I havent seen anything online for local canada. Then again, I havent searched thoroughly. But I will let u know. And Boz.... just to let u know. Celsius scale is the most up to date SI Unit and it is internationally accepted. Its the Ferenh. scale which is out of date. Sorry I couldnt put that in F scale since I have no idea what 90F means. But just to let u know, :d Cheers |

| 100% Title Free ![]() | I have a black Joe Rocket Phoenix, which gets the job done, but is somewhat contradictory in that its color absorbs heat. I recently picked up a used firstgear mesh (silver) for $50 that is like an icebox compared to the Joe Rocket mesh.

| I went to check out some mesh yesterday. I saw a Joe Rock. and it was for CAD 215 and some other no-name for $150. I took my time to compare the 2 and I realize the padding and the make is well worth it for the J Rocket. The padding on the cheaper 1 will dislodge when putting it on and I didnt feel so good in it. The meshes all come is some dark color ironically. I was looking for yellow or gray but to no avail. Hey Lou, that was cycleworld.ca just to let u know. Cheers |
