Last week on my one day off in the last 20 some odd days I took the R1 out for a spin. I went to check out some of the smaller farm roads just outside of town. I'm not a very agressive rider compared to some other R1 riders but I did have a bit of fun on a new road I found. I went through some road construnction and once I got out gave her a bit more power than usuall.
Half way through a corner I noticed a rather large rock (about 8 inches in length and about 6 inches think). I saw it too late as it was a tight corner. Front tire hit it, slid me over about 2 feet and put a small chip in my lower fairing
All good though as I some how kept her up and going.

I would check to make sure you didn't warp or bend your front rim. If you see your tire is losing air, you may have to replace the rim.

I've been keeping my eye on it ever since. Every things apears to be in good shape. I put the bike up on some stands just to see the front tire rotate a bit and everything there looks good. No change in tire pressure and I'll still continue to keep my eye on it for a bit more.

I'm with BudTheGrey here- all I've hit so far is rain. Lots of rain. Seriously, can it PLEASE stop raining??? Americade starts TOMORROW!!! (And of course, my buddies who ride with me won't really be available much this week (darn jobs), and a few of us have DRILL Saturday when the rally closes down. I think my unit's HQ folks scout out anything that would appeal to the Motor Section and plans drill for that weekend...seemingly the REST of the NYARNG drilled THIS weekend!! )

Oh well, besides the innumerable bugs, I did have a little bird decide to take a hard left when flying across my path (right to left) earlier this year...he started about sprocket level, took a hard left and up pattern, and ended up bouncing off the right side of my helmut...surprise!!

i got hit with some little pieces of metal on the freeway once. they got stuck around the visor on my helmet and in my jacket, hands and front tire. they were about the size of staples. i also rode into a swarm of dragon flies. those suckers hurt.

So far I've hit a possum, a bird, and a license plate that got thrown at me frizbi style from under a van I was behind. The license plate hurt the worst and actually cut through the leather jacket I had on. i got a nice cut across the arm from that one.
