Default Flat tyre

It has now been about three weeks, but I also lack the money to do anything about it. A new tyre is going to run me about R350, and labour R100 or so. Add 14% tax to that, and it comes to around R520.00. :-/ Which I don't have at the moment.

The other problem is that the service centre is about 10 km's away, and I have to arrange for my father in law to help with his pick up truck.

How do you guys handle a flat, when you have no access to a pick up, or cannot get the wheel off?

At least by Wednesday, I should have it sorted. Thank goodness for my wife's credit card!

Its 106 miles to Chicago. We have a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, its dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

Hey, psycho, we're not getting back together. Now get out of my Van Halen t-shirt before you jinx the band and they break up.

Now if you have a tube tire and cant get the thing off that’s a problem. If it’s not a total blow out, a can of fix a flat could get you home.

Tried that kind of stuff once - "Slime" - green liquid that you squirt into the valve. It worked for about 15 minutes, I think the hole was to big for it to seal.

I call my insurance comnpany's toll free roadside assistance phone number and they send out a vehicle with a bike trailer to take my bike to the shop.

Why can't you remove the wheel from the bike and take it yourself?

Do not have a 17" spanner, but also I am worried that if I do take it off, I will not be able to put it back together again properly. There is nothing in the user manual about removing wheels. It says "In the event of a flat tyre, please see your local dealer."

There's not much too it as long as you record (digital camera, notes, parts taped to cardboard) what you've done and reverse the operation later. What's a 17" spanner?
