It’s like watching grass grow. We have a goose at work taking care of her eggs at the front door. The fricking male standing guard keeps attacking me.

Been watching this for a couple of weeks now at work. Picture the setting...good ole union boys pouring a coffee at morning start, tuning in to the eagles and sitting around BS'n and waiting for momma to move and reveal the eggs/ chicks, he, he. Just doesn't fit the stereotype.

Atlas. Did you know that was Hornby Island? I saw the eggs this morning when Momma took off to spread her wings a bit.

Thanks Trapper I knew it was Hornby. You saw two eggs this morning huh? Hmmm, A guy at work said he heard that one had hatched but hadn't seen for myself today yet. Post if you see anything. I'm on here more than at the nest LOL. If one has cracked, the other should toute suite.

Alas, I'm at work now and I'm on dial up here. At home I just kept it on a FireFox tab and turned the volume up, when I heard some rustling I would click the tab.

Update. Momma just lifted, to reveal 2 eggs, one with a dime sized hole in the end. Looks like its starting. I'll look in later on to see any progress.

It seems to be awfully bright out there for what time it is and being a "live" web cam...

Nah this is the new breed that doesn’t migrate. I should take a picture of all the land mines in the parking lot. This SOB has it out for me; he genuinely wants to take me out. Right now he’s probably sitting there waiting for Monday.

Oh yeah, why is it day time for the eagle????

It says in the discussion forum that during the dark they replay the daylight footage.

Oh! See, I'm too lazy to read! Even here, I don't actually read anything. I just pretend that I do. But of course, if I don't read, how did I know what your post said?? Ahh!

From the website:

Sad News:

April 30, 2006

Eagles and conservation have been the joy and occasional sadness of my life. This is a sad moment. It appears that the Hornby Island bald eagle eggs are infertile. The first egg should have hatched April the 26 and the second egg today. The first embryo, if it developed at all, is surely dead. The second embryo, could still hatch but I cannot see the proper pipping of the egg shell, where the chicks beak has broken through enabling it to draw in air, the precursor to the final struggle for hatching. It does not look good for this pair this year. In fact this is the second year of failure for this nest territory.

Well, that's a bummer. I had the live feed up while I worked several times over the last few days. Baldy and I were getting rather close.
