Question Favorite Urban Legends

Ok, with all the fun going on lately, I thought that I'd open a place to share your favorites! Snopes is your friend (I've been checking them out for years and always enjoy the items that I read there)!

My favorite is the one that pennies (for those outside the US, that's $.01 US ) aren't legal tender. If you believe this, then, please check out the friend mentioned above..

What's your favorite??

Speaking of pennies I like the one about the Empire State Building. "If you drop a penny from the roof and it hits someone it will kill them: What a hoot!

I enjoyed the work-up that the Mythbusters did on that one. Fitting a penny into a nail gun; priceless! ...and a nice new weapon for those that annoy me!

Just for the record, the Swiss government decided to take the 1 Rappen coin out of circulation. The smalles coin we have is 5 Rappen, and there has been some discussion about getting rid of it also.

The funny thing about not having a 1 Rappen (or 1 cent) coin is that everthing is rounded to the hearest 5. So gasoline here costs CHF 1.735 per liter, whereas in the US (and most of Europe) it's 1.739.

My phone bill is also rounded to the nearest 0.05. Sometimes I save 0.02, sometimes I pay 0.02 too much. But it all balances out in the end...

For every one of these e-mails you forward, Bill Gates will send you $275 to test his new e-mail tracking system. It's true, as reported on Good Morning America, CNN, Foxnews, The Today Show....

I love those emails! It just shows how stupid some of my "friends" are that keep sending that crap to me!

How about the email that says Target is a French-owned company? Just gotta love institutionalized racisim.

......you'll get hairy palms!

P.S. If you forward this to 5 friends, you'll have 1 wish granted.
If you forward this to 10 friends, you'll have 5 wishes granted.
If you forward this to 50 friends, you'll have 1 year of good luck.
If you forward this to 100 friends, you'll have 5 years of good luck.

If you delete this without forwarding it, a pox will befall you and you will have 500 years of bad luck, your children will go blind and your dog will stop loving you.

Signed (your friend)?

As a teenager, I often heard "If you do THAT, you'll go blind."

One day, I was at the store and saw a blind man walking down the isle.

I thought to myself "WOW! You're da man! You went through with it!"

If no one in America buys gas on XX day, it will bring the oil companies to their knees.

The Alar on apples is killing your kids, and the republicans put it there on purpose.

If you spend two months salary on diamonds, it means you really, really, really love someone.

Shall we continue?
