Default Why do you come to M-J.com

and in particular, the Off Topic threads?

we all know the PC thing to say is: "i get helpful info on my bike and there is a great group of people with a common interest to make friends with"

but bottom line, why do we, as internet surfers, spend so much time here posting 4000+ times? we all know darn well that those 4000 posts are not "hey, if you order this part # you can help your bike do this"...or "i went for a ride today and saw these sights". most of us with 4000+ are haning out here in OT, insulting others, laughing at jokes, giving relationship advice to someone we have never met in person, telling other people what to do or buy or use for easier surfing.

is it the escape from reality? the ability to be someone you really arent? the ability to be someone you wish you could be? maybe getting to be the person you really are..."saying" whatever sarcastic or insulting thing comes to mind without any fear of being punched, slapped, fired, suspended, etc? is it the humor or life stories of other people?

so why all the "lol" or "+1" or "look at this pic of a guy with bunny ears on" or "spelling corrections" ?

.

'cause we can!!!! ,,, I like to use commas,,,,and no-one really bashes me about them!!!!! +1!!!!!

Actually compared to other forums I have been on this one seems to have just better comradery(sp) than any I have seen. Actually getting to put names with faces and avatars is really cool.

The first person imet was Intimid8er. had a great time just hanging out and drinking beer. Great Guy,, even though I am beginning to wonder if his taste in beer is really meant to prepare him for chemical warfare attacks.

I have been priveledged to meet and to talk to numerous people from here that I never would have met before. Last Labor Day I had the opportunity to meet Pinhy, Road Mamma, and her husband Morecarl. Had a great time!!!

I also have been able to ride with wracing and his brother several times. In fact we have rode a couple of rides locally that turned out to be all day trips.

Biketoberfest in Daytona last fall,, met drgibson and his infamous camera. Nice guy,, a little loco but nice,,.

I met Smurf finally a few weekends ago and one of his friends. I told Everett Keith, HammerPete, and BlackholeKelley about the forum and they have all stayed here for the same reasons. And originally HammerPete and BlackholeKelley didn't even ride Suzukis when this was a Suzuki Primarily forum.

Now a few months ago S2Design approached me about trying to get a ride together to go to the Dragon. I said ok and now look. We have people coming from as far away as Colorado, Nebraska, Illinois, Missourri, Texas, North Carolina, and Florida.

Kinda amazing if you ask me. A total bunch of people that for the most part have never met face to face getting together to meet and ride with each other on a trip for a weekend.

Where have you ever found that before?? It is not that frequent,, when you do you know you have stumbled into something really cool.

I stumbled in here looking for info on my Intruder last year and here I am. Here to stay,, well as long as the mods will let me,!!!!!

i spend 9 hours a day at work.
2.5 hours per day commuting.
that leaves me barely two hours a day monday through friday to spend with my kids.

you guys are a social group that understands a part of me. not all of me, of course. and i can hang out with you without depriving my kids.

yay, multitasking.

I do it to help kill time at work. Most of the time, I get paid to simply "be available."

That, and most other message boards suck.

I’m just a tourist, don’t ride nor have I ever.

I need something to pass the time around here. Reading yahoo news was starting to bore the hell out of me. You can only surf the net for so long before you run out of ideas for crap to look up.

In all I think it’s a nice place to hang out and learn a few things.

It's never boring! Sorta like a soap opera. Someone busting Pinhy's chops,Sunny, dancing with the Captain,STP and his soap box,and the Mods, that's lunacy at it's best. Could it be we are being brain washed into a two wheeled cult?
Oh yeah, We love bikes and bling.

The people. Hanging out with friends is one thing, but having an interest that's big enough to bring complete strangers together is really something.

I read much more than I post. My main reason for coming to MJ is the fact that I know I can get good advice from great people. All of which have the best intentions of helping others.
The sence of humor is great and is another thing that keeps me coming by day in and day out.
The fact that I know someone on these boards can help with with any problem I have: be it something on the bike, a lost loved one, or just stress. All of that is what mean the world to me.
That is why I come to M-J.com

I came to learn about the C50 and stayed for the soap opera, THE LAST MAN.

Now I am an addict, needing a daily shot.

You are all to blame!!!!!!!

I'm 43 yrs old......My second childhood took hold after my wife got pregnant-(it was a shock to both of us!), we had almost givin' up.

Decided to get back into motorcycling, bought a bike, found cruisercustomizing....Zuki-dudes site and then just happen to found this place while surfing for MC parts.

WOW, love this place!!! The mods are great! The members are great! AND the knowledge learned and shared is great.........and it's only getting better

A place to meet people

WAY BETTER than surfing the net, that get's dull........this place doesn't!

The different personalities are a plus....better than ole; Katie Couric in each and EVERY morning.

Hopping on here and/or lurking...gives me something to look forward to when I first get up or wake up and can't go back to sleep and checking on when the family doesn't need my attention for a while.

speaking of looking forward to something.....

IS IT JUNE YET!
