After switching to cable I couldn't imagine doing dial up again, it sucks.

I think I have 1.5mbits at home. I guess I'm just used to broadband.

I'm the opposite, Sunny. I'm on dial-up at work (spose to be for e-mail only pfft) and 3 mbps at home.

Have cable at home...we are currently running at 10mps. The cable company is preparing to upgrade, again, so more speed the better. At work, we have an awesome connection. Not sure what the exact speed is.

MY DSL package has a 10 hours dialup access for the road warrior...

The problem is between me and the telco. My home network is fine, the DSL modem can't establish the connection.

Louis,

I used to have the same problem ALOT. I have cox cable internet....this is what they told me to do-(if I remember everything correctly).

Power everything down computers, modem and if ya have one...the router(s) too. Disconnect the internet/ethernet connection from all of them.

Wait a few minutes....

Reconnect the the internet and ethernet cables.

Then power up your modem then router(s) and computer. The connection "should" be found.

If NOT...the problem is either your modem has gone bad and will need replaced....

OR the issue is with your provider.....and they'll need to come out and check your connection at the pole.

Hope this helps.

btw...my issue was a weak signal and they had to establish a more "direct" cable connection to the computer to help with the issue.

Thanks but I already know that it is either the telco or the modem.

The phone company should be able to tell if it is your DSL modem or their stuff. They should be able to check the hops back to you and see where it is failing (IE...everything is fine up to your modem, your house, the street, etc).
