Default Boating season

A bit late, but the Mrs. and I kicked off our boating season today, while celebrating her birthday. I'm under orders concerning which birthday this is, though some say it's one of the "milestones"..... Pulled the cover off the boat, checked the essentials, and went to a local lake. Great ride, followed by docking at the marina restaurant for a nice waterfront dinner. They had live music, and the place was packed with boaters, bikers, and locals.

Boat ran fine, still breaking it in really, only has 18 hours on her. 2004 24' Starcraft 2410 Aurora w/320hp MPI Volvo-Cobra. Let's hear from all you biker/boater guys!

Don't own a boat but I love 'em . Go out w/friends every now & again. To me, it's definitely peaceful being out there on the water.

Boating has to be one of the most relaxing pursuits there are.

Gee I wonder which lake and which marina

I grew up at Lake Grandberry. Haven't had a boat in years.

Why, it was Joe Pool lake and Lynn Creek marina, of course... But, you might already have guessed that.... It has become one of our favorites, since last year's drought made it one of the last around to have decent water level. And if you've ever sat and watched a busy boat ramp for awhile, you know you will see all sorts of unusal happenings! The outdoor bar patio is right next to said ramp, so there is quite an audience to cheer the unfortunate boater who commits his launching errors....

From DeSoto the drive to Lynn Creek is a beautiful one. Go through Cedar Hill and then drop down to the lake. Nice view.

I would suggest a Vessel Safety Check from one of the Friendly Coast Guard Auxiliary members. keeps the water cops away.

You should come with me sometime then!!!

We spent the winter installing a wake tower, 400 watt amp, upgraded speakers, and bazooka tubes on a 21' Sea Ray. The inaugural run was last week, but the real deal was this past weekend. We got out on the water and the chop was awful. 2-3 ft. Not ideal wakeboarding conditions. We waited it out, and were rewarded well. The water calmed down, and we got to do a lot of runs each.

If no one here has ever been pulled by a wake tower.....it's awesome. It just snatches you out of the water, as opposed to the rope being tied to the stern, and pulling you through the water. Less fatigue too. However, I can barely move today!

I don't care about the chop, or the engine noise or anything. There's just something about being on the water that is so comforting. BTW, I will take you up on the invite someday.

Ocean sailing for me. Lived on the coast most of my life. Got transfered to IL for a couple years and thought i'd miss the forests and mountains. What I really missed was the ocean. Sailing up the coast of Maine, pulling into a small harbor, nice plate of fried clams and a bottle of Newcasle then back to the boat for a good night sleep... good stuff.

We went camping at loyd park ( i think thats what it was) for my g/f's dads 40th birthday. We were out there Friday night and Saturday night, had to be out of there by 12 sunday.

I was out on the water yesterday. Unfortunately, I was helping to drag the lake looking for a 12 y/o that jumped from the pontoon boat without his PFD. They threw one to him but he could not hang on. That was late Saturday night, and we were looking Tuesday. May be later this week before he comes up.
