Default I Pledge Allegiance To The Flag

Some of us "Old Timers" will remember this from 1969.

You mean it isn't a prayer being said to a religeous symbol? I thought that's why it was taken out of schools.

What gets me is it is ok to be offended by religious statments or symbols but those with specific beliefs can't be offended at the caustic statments of those who want to limit their right to freedom of speech or religion.

What's funny is everyone has a religion (a cause, principle, or system of beliefs held to with ardor and faith) If you are a Christian, Muslem, Athiest, non conformist, even if you claim to not believe in anything then that is your religion. Yet we are so easily offended by anything that reminds us that this country was built on a set of moral beliefs.

It's not about being offended. It's about the government (the school system) forcing your child to recite a religious statement that doesn't align with your own.

I agree with those who object. It just smacks of Naziism.

well... the John Wayne version of "the Pledge" is my favorite. He also did a good one on the flag and on hyphens.
