| Since 'Nut's been a guitar god since the 80's I suspect he has no idea if something like this exists. I thought I'd throw it out for the new players on our little boat. I've had a year of weekly lessons. I didn't have much time to practice in between them, and when I did I had a hard time finding the groove. My instructor was great. He knows both the theory and the emotion of guitar music, and while in the room with him I really made progress. It's after I got home that I hit the wall. I want to continue to learn, partly so I can play with my 85 year-old grandfather this holiday season. He's a spritely old chap, but no one lives forever. Back to our regularly scheduled program: I think what might really help me is a lesson that I can play in my theater room and play along with. I don't really care what kind of music it is, but I want it to be fun. Anything from John Denver to Johnny Cash to Metallica. I'd like it to be fairly basic, but it need not start at zero. I have learned basic chords and a few scales. Sorry for my poorly constructed post. I'm tired. Any ideas? Thanks.

| Clint, Do you have any friends that play? If you do I would try to get together and play once every week or two. I took lessons but I learned to play by jamming with people that are better than me. I can never remember songs I've read, but I remember all the ones I picked up by following along. |

| Friends? My computer is my only friend. Seriously, no. I've never been involved in any music culture, so I'm on my own (which is the way I prefer it for now). I ride solo and I play solo. For me, music is a more introspective thing.

| 60s rock is cool: - Jimi Hendrix - Cream - Wilson Pickett 70s Classic rock is the fun stuff to "jam" to: - Eric Clapton - Bad Company - Eagles - Neil Young - Pink Floyd - Santana - Led Zeppelin A lot of that stuff uses A-E-C-G chord progressions There is some easy 90s stuff too: - Black Crowes - Hootie and the BLOW fish I-IV-V Blues progressions are fun too Break out the turntable and use that to learn by. Quit being lazy. - Nut
