Default Snow, snow........and more snow!

So far we've got 6" of snow fall in our area that started yesterday.......with another 6 to 8" coming tonight/tomorrow. The snow fall accumulations have been updated since the story below.

http://omaha.cox.net/cci/newslocal/l...icleId=1362467

And a declared snow emergency in the metro and surrounding areas.......

http://omaha.cox.net/cci/newslocal/l...icleId=1362468

Oh and btw....I was watching the local news-(an NBC affiliate) last week and the weather guy was asked on air by one of his colleague's whether winter was over......he said "YES...yes it is".

Now if that don't point out how CRAPPY/SUCKY weather men are.....I don't know what does.

Mother Nature has her way of proving the weather men wrong, doesn't she?

According to weather.com, we'll be going from rain showers, to mixed rain/snow, to snow showers. What a way to start the first day of spring!

Oh yeah, I work right across the hall from the weather forecasters. They take their forecasts seriously and if the weather doesn't occur as forecasted, these guys get seriously bent out of shape, lol!

Hey Mavman, how long you been living in Omaha? Haven't you learned that you have to plan for the opposite of what they say? NBC, isn't that KMTV?? If so, I never cared for them. Used to watch Flowers for Randby (sp?).

Hate to tell you Mav but I was riding my bike here in Des Moines, the snow line just stops dead a county over to the west of here......

Sorry about your luck! But I still put the blade back on the quad just in case.

It'll be 17 years at the end of next month that I've lived here.

Well the first thing said was, "oh your an Iowegen eh, well you know what that means"........don't remember the rest, I ignored it. But the second thing said was "remember, when the wind over here changes direction....you can bet the forecast will too".

NBC's is WOWT, but it wasn't flowers that said it, it was the morning/afternoon guy filling in for him-(shame on them for letting him). he he.

I always get the NBC/CBS mixed up. I've never been the same since they switched it 10-15 yrs ago.

When I talked to my mom, think she was saying they were supposed to get 18 inches. I remember the storm back in March 98, had snow piled up in the back up my pickup that extended up and over the cab. Soooo much wait that the 4 wheel drive was worthless.

After reading Merlot's post.........I remember a huge snow fall some time back in the seventies in APRIL, I think it was.....when I lived in Ottumwa, Iowa. That's what I thought of when it started snowin' yesterday.

Yeah, the same crap that hit you, hit us, too.
And with tomorrow being a day off for me, I was going to go out for a nice ride.

Yesterday was the first ride this season where I did not freeze my you know what's.

It was actually warm in the upper valley. The forecast is rain and more rain.

snow is cool, pretty-looking and everything else for about two days, and then it gets old and annoying.
i'm glad we don't get snow around here.

Looked like a little break in the weather.
An hour out and it decided to rain. Cut the ride short and headed back.
Dam'n it was cold. Have to warm up before cleaning the bike.
