Here are a few more taken just of 8th Ave, south of the Abbotsford Airport.
This is an old second war airport used for light aircraft and some jet flights.
This is 12 miles east of the last set.
1 northeast
2 north
3 southeast

In the first shot there is a motorcycle. It is a shadow 1300 ridden by Walley. We exchanged cards and will ride together sometime.

We are about 15 miles east of the airport. 2 miles past the barns.
ne
east
southeast
The valley narrows, forcing us to head north east.
Next good weather, I will take the rest covering another 40 miles as we become surronded by mountains at Hope, B.C.

Nice shots Blackie...Good to see you're getting out in the warmer sun.
Mrs.Atlas and I got out on the bike on Sunday afternoon from Ft. Langley out to around 280 th area, covering all the hills and turns we could find. I had my camera but didn't stop to snap any...just enjoying the scenery and ride.

Looking forward to getting together again with you for a ride.

That is where I was today when the rain caught me. The wind was blowing.
Had intended to head further east but was getting cold and wet.
Weekend forcast looks better.
Met another rider who will ride with us, he is on a honda 1300.
He is taking his family to Whistler for skiing this week, but is up for rides on the weekend. His wife rides 2 up with him.

Yesterday morning was sunny and clear, came in cleaned up, went out for a ride. It was cloudy looking like rain with a wind. Got in 2 hours.
Rained last night, got up it was cloudy, now it is clear and the sun is out,

The mountains are much more beautiful to look at than our skyscrapers and corn fields.

I headed East, as I got close to the mountains the clouds dropped down to a few hundred ft., felt cold and like rain was coming. Headed back west into the sun. Still a little cool. Stopped grapped a couple pictures over the Sumas prairies.
The first 2 are looking east where I ran into low clouds, next is looking north.

First is looking west and some sun.
Looking northwest
looking southeast

Temp was in the low 50's but as I got further East, it got colder.
Wind picked up.
3 hours seat time.

A little better today. High 50' to low 60's.
Little wind.
This is Chilliwack/Abbotsford border.

Looking East towards Chilliwack
Looking north
Looking West back towards Vancouver

Once past Chilliwack into the Hope area, you are completely surronded by mountains.

Its Mount Baker....

Mt Washington is in the central Oregon cascades and you could never see it from BC. You might consider a ride to Mt Washington, its an incredibly twisty state narrow hwy between the Santiam Pass and the town of Sisters, Oregon. I have'nt taken that road on my bike....I need to be a better rider for that hwy. The highway opens in spring and closes in fall.

JackM

Thanks. Maybe you should come up to B.C.
Sample a little Tim Hortons. Ride a few roads, take a little rain back with you.

I seem to remember sharing a few of those twisties with some logging rigs in the early 60's.
