Default NASCAR: Las Vegas

For a preview, check my thread topic for California Speedway.

Essentially, this week again will be a Roush, Hendrick show. Again with the spoiler coming from the Gibbs squad.

Roush's domination at this track goes back as far as this track has been open. As far back as the beginning, I can remember race after race of all or most of Roush's cars finishing in the top ten. Hendrick cars have made a good showing last year. I'd look at Jimmy Johnson for the win on the Hendrick side, and Matt Kenseth on the Roush side. Matt has won here a couple times, and he's got a little momentum on his side. Johnson has had some strong finishes here. I like Jeff Gordon, but I think he needs to get off his high horse and test his own cars, not send a development driver to develop data for his car.

More spoilers: Jeff Burton he and this track get along pretty well. Kasey Kahne, Denny Hamlin, and the Ichabod Crane Bros. Kyle and Kurt Busch.

If last week was any indicator of how the cars will act on an intermediate track, this week will be even more so.

Kyle Busch got pretty frickin' wild at Mexico City - and Denny Hamlin's driving was hotter than Boris Said's coolant at the end. Mikey W. continues to make me wonder why anybody gives him a car.

I'm looking forward to seeing Jimmy Johnson retain the points lead after Vegas - he's my pick for the 2006 Cup.

He can drive a Superspeedway car if you give him one. But....according to the drivers.....a drunk monkey can also. So you have that possibility of four wins a year or at least a lot of exposure for the sponsor because he'll run up front at those four races.

Before DEI became dysfunctional (IMHO after Ty Norris/Don Hawk left), he didn't show any promise on any other tracks. He just gets these weird setups in his head that he thinks are right. Obviously by his box scores he isn't doing something right. I'm not sure all that Toyota money is going to help his driving. Even though Toyota's money has done wonders for Mike Skinner, Ted Musgrave, and Todd Bodine in the Truck Series. My dad always told me. You can't polish a turd. Shine away all you want, but underneath it still is what it is.

Mikeys going to sand bag all year. The real TRD deal is going to be with RedBull and Harvick.

Disagree here, I was at the 500 in 2003, the last one he won, My seat was near the exit of turn 4 and there was a wreck during the race, right there, pieces flying all over the place.. I had my scanner on scan mode, just hit on mikey's frequency when it happened. He said "I hope no one in the stands got hurt". That to me says alot about the man. Yeah he's a showman. I think this year all he's hoping for is seat time. Let's see how it goes after next season.

Dude, that sucks. However, Vegas should be cool enough to experience on its own!!

One of these days I'll get to go there for "fun" - 18 years of work trips to vegas. Altho I did bump into Boyd Coddington one year in the hotel while I was there to work SEMA. Probably the only "celebrety" I've recognized outside of a work context.

Nice finish, JJ again! Woo-Hoo! Tony kicked his own butt...

Intimid8er's original post in this thread shows some excellent insight - I am very impressed!

Yeah like Tony needs provoked, not that Kyle is any better. They need to start a pool on who is going to be the first driver this year to get a real penelty.

good call Tim!

I watched the last 93 laps and what a great finish! Im happy my Hendrick team did well (1, 3, 5), Tony sucked late, which is good too.
