Wow. The only thing blossoming here are the upside-down-car-in-the-ditch weeds. We got an inch last night and it's as if people forgot how to drive already.

I have spent 10 years of my life in Japan, and the cherry blossoms are the most beautiful views ever seen by my eyes. The blossoms do not last long, but that brief moment gave me a much greater appreciation for their beauty. I love the festivals that accompany the occasion too.

Riding a motorcycle on streets lined with cherry trees with blossoms in full bloom... well, that's awesome!

Ah yes, brings back memories RB!

1975-1980, Yokosuka-shi, Kanagawa-ken
1994-1996, Misawa-shi, Aomori-ken
2000-2003, Fussa-shi, Tokyo-to (hope I got this one right )

In Yokosuka, I was a child then. My father was a sailor in the US Navy stationed at the base there. For the other two, I was (and still am) an active duty airman in the US Air Force. My first tour was at Misawa Kichi while my second tour was at Yokota Kichi. I would go again in a heartbeat if given the opportunity. I loved the land, the people, the food, etc.

P.S.
Glad I can help you out with the pictures.

2000-2003, Fussa-shi, Tokyo-to (hope I got this one right )Yes, you got this right. I am currently live at Ayase city where the Atsugi US Naval Base is. I had a few pilot friends whom I used to have sushi at a local sushi house but they were gone back to the States. So I need to lubricate my tongue somehow or other

ps: May I ask you another question on the Forum?
On the page for "Threds in Forum" most of the posts have a diamond mark (like New Posts) but mine has an envelope mark (you have posted in this thread). How come mine is different? I did not set any mark, though.

Good! I found one of my photo albums. I'll try to locate some pics of cherry blossoms in Hirosaki City (Aomori Pref.) and post them. It may take a little while. It's dinner time for me.

Okay, just got done scanning some pictures. These were taken at Hirosaki Castle in Aomori Prefecture in the spring of 1995. Here they are below:

...and the last one is yours truly:

Nice pictures! I was going to say Hirosaki is famous for the castle and the cherry blossoms but your post was quicker. I saw some people are enjoying a party ... they seem to say 'Hana yori Dango' (Pudding rather than praise) sometimes.

Thank you! I enjoyed every minute of the Cherry Blossom festival. I went to Hirosaki with a few friends and it seems every where we walked, we would get invited to sit with the Japanese people there. Sake and Sapporo beer made their way around very quickly.

I need to start getting by this forum more often again... almost missed this thread (and likely would have if not for a PM from my good friend Hama )

Trapper - good luck finding a bike like Riceburners (unless you want to make a quick trip to Japan)

R B - aren't you glad you got that new computer a few months ago? You should dig out a few of the other cherry blossom pictures from near your house, and the park, and post them.

EZR - great photos!

That's the first time I've seen EZ. I think it's time for a new photo thread.
