Okay...it's time for the first "real" race of the season. Away from the trickery, voodoo, and black magic that dominates Daytona and Talladega. This will be our first glimpse of whose got their act together on the all important downforce tracks. So it's open to interpretation who'll win. It'll definitely be a Roush - Hendricks battle. Please don't read the above statement as your favorite driver is being ignored. The diversity in the top twenty is pretty good at this race, but almost a quarter of the field is comprised of two teams that historically have good finishes here all the way back to the track's inception. Penske always puts out good cars here. So does Gibbs. Some spoilers to look for. Petty Enterprises. Kyle Petty can certainly get around this track, with the upgrades in the offseason, and Bobby Labonte's knowledge expect decent finishes from both cars. Ken Schraeder. He had a good finish with the Schwans team and a decent run at Daytona. With the notes in the shop of the 21 car from last year at this track, and Ken's experience, I'd look for a top ten finish here too. I wouldn't be surprised if we see a good showing from MB2 motorsports also. Sterling has historically had good runs here, and so has Joe Nemecheck. The shop notebook will have some good setups for the MB2 teams to draw off of. I may eat my words come Monday but don't look for DEI to be a force this weekend. Dale Jr. has not had a good time with this track in the past, and it's no secret the Intermediate track program over there was in shambles last year. Kasey Kahne likes this track and Michigan. If Evernham has got that rotten Charger sorted out, look for a top ten here. Prediction to win: Roush. This track and Michigan are nine out of ten times fuel mileage battles. Roush committed to Mark Martin way back when at this track to give him a car that could win on fuel. I'll be damned if he didn't live up to his promise. After that, Roush cars magically became very miserly with the fuel at this track and Michigan. Barring multiple cautions, we've yet to see what the new Fusion is capable of on a track like this. I don't expect it'll be a slouch.

Other than the fact that I'm a 5'2", 90lb., hung like a field mouse, wee man that chooses tough sounding handles to use in anonymous Internet Message Board Forums so people will think I'm a bad-@ss and respect what I type and not try and bully me!

| Umm...... Matt Kenseth already won this race, and next week is an off week for Cup. However, Harvick has a good shot at winning the Road Course Busch Series race in Mexico this week if he is on the entry list.

Good to see Denny Hamlin pick up a win. Good confidence booster. I've got money riding on him for R.O.T.Y. on the Cup side of things.

| ahh the joys of seeing Kyle "the weed" Busch get boo'ed by a multinational audience - Priceless. It would have been nice to see Boris and Denny actually get a few laps to battle to the flag. I'm surprised Truex didnt go run. Wonder what DEI is thinking other than "practice practice practice"

Boris is a great Road Course driver. I was hoping for a great shootout with the two restarts near the end there, but I guess Boris didn't have anything for him. I did notice though in I think it was turn one (?) after the chicane, Boris could've drove a little deeper on that restart with about ten laps to go. If he had done that, he could've bagged the race I think. Maybe he used the brakes up, and didn't think he could go in that deep? I know he had just cooled them off on the caution, but maybe they weren't giving the feedback he needed to pull it off.

Eh...Maybe. Maybe not. The problem with "Road Course Specialists" is exactly that. They are specialists. They can demonstrate the appropriate flash on a track that turns both left and right, and they are usually given rides at those tracks with properly funded teams with cars that can showcase their skills. But more often than not, the premium rides are not given to these guys. They get signed to "development squads" and stuff like that.
