Default got a modded Xbox?

Do any of you gamers out there have a modded Xbox? I just ordered the Xecuter 3 CE chip and a 250GB hard drive. The hard drive already came in and the chip should be in by Saturday, so I'm hoping to be all modded and done by Monday. I got the solder-in version, so hopefully I won't screw anything up. *fingers crossed*

Add a harddrive and a mod chip and you can rent or borrow a game, copy it, then never have to pay for the game. Also good for emulators (example: EVERY Nintendo/Super Nintendo/Sega game ever made in one file).

Sweet! Is the mod chip a Microsoft hack that you have to buy from "ShadySal" on ebay?

Those people are discussing the rumor of a mod chip for the Xbox 360, for which there are none yet. Only regular Xbox, PS2, Playstation, and GameCube can be modded at the moment. The chip basically allows you to bypass the preinstalled BIOS from Microsoft that boots the Xbox. It allows you to install any BIOS you wish, even multiple BIOS in case you like to switch between them or one gets corrupted. That allows you to load programs and "unlock" certain abilities that are prohibited under normal operation. The good part is that you can rip games directly to the hard drive and play them from there, eliminating the need for the CDs. Also, if you have it connected to a receiver and connected to your network via ethernet, you can stream your mp3s through your stereo system. There are hardwired versions (solder-in) and solderless. I opted for the hard wired. You can find them just about anywhere by doing a search in google for "xbox mod chip". I got mine from www.mod-chip.com.

Cool. Is that the new X-box or the one that's been out for a while? If the graphics are truly high-def, I might have to check into that.

The Xbox 360 is the one that just came out. It's supposed to be the best of the best as far as consoles go. My brother-in-law has one. The graphics were very good, but I wasn't impressed enough to drop nearly $800 on it. Surprisingly enough, it comes with regular audio/video jacks AND the really nice component cables.

Yeah most of my friends have modded consoles. I haven't done it cause I don't play em a whole lot so never bothered. Really all you have to do is buy a hard-drive (about 80 bucks for a good one) and install it.

Well, my mod chip came in yesterday, so I'm hoping to install everything over the weekend.
