Default What the heck does your username mean v2.0

It's time we learned a bit about our newer members. Since the original thread got a bit junked up, we'll start a new one. Let's try to stay on topic for the sake of archiving.

As I wrote in the original thread, I used to own a Dell Inspiron 7500 laptop. I was looking for a screen name, and there was this word printed in big letters under the screen. If I had been working on my desktop machine, my screen name would probably have been "samsumg" or "eizo"

Plus, inspiron has such a positive "ring" to it ... I find it inspiring

In the 12th century AD there was a pagan lord whose domain was largely based on the growing, processing, and selling of oatmeal throughout Europe, so much so that he became known (in many tongues) as "The Oatmeal Lord."

As his realm extended, he became richer and richer to the detriment of his subjects. He lost touch with them, and began driving them harder and harder to meet his unreasonable quotas that supplied his coiffers. A rebellion was planned, but The Oatmeal Lord learned of it in advance and captured 35 of the rebels.

He had a dozen of the chief collaborators boiled in large vats of oatmeal in the town square of his capitol, and the rest were left to starve... unless they could bring themselves to eat the oatmeal in the vats. Once that was gone, they would be permitted to recieve a quick death.

The Lord Oatmeal, already at the height of his influence, lusted for more power. He turned to the black arts to achieve greater heights. His lust for more power and the obvious way that his secret practices were affecting him, turning his mind and mood to evil truly disturbed the people who were doing business with him.

His reputation worsened and worsened. As the respect he had from the surrounding domains waned he dove deeper and deeper into darkness, never understanding that the darkness was exactly what was ruining him, until at last other kingdoms began refusing to buy oatmeal from his kingdom entirely.

He chose to attack those who would no longer treat with him. He raised a collossal army and marched out to take by force from his old trading partners what they would no longer barter.

His campaign was an utter failure. In the end, his treasury depleated and his kingdom in ruins, he vowed that he would not die until he had wrought revenge from the people who had 'wronged him.' He disappeared just before the enemy troops appeared on his stronghold's doorstep. His servants and peasants were slaughtered, and yet he was nowhere to be found. He has not been heard from since, though every year on the day that his final defeat was effected his ghost is said to be seen fleeing from the ruins of his castle into the woods to the West.

All of which is a complete fabrication, which I just made up on the spot.

I tried ordering oatmeal at a resturant not long after I graduated from High School and began at a community college, and they didn't have it. Not surprising, since it was a taco joint. I signed up for an email account later that day, didn't have anything in mind, gave up and called myself "oatmeal" and I've been using it ever since.

Mine has nothing to do with bikes, it has to do with my favorite NASCAR Diver. Bobby Labone drives the number 18 car, and it's a Chevy. The Chevy emblem is called a "Bowtie".

Mine came from owning 3 different Ford Maveric's in my younger days and have had or done a little work on couple of them. Not being to mechanically inclined I pinstripped to death different stuff on one. Left one alone,
But on my '74 red four door Mav, I had a header slapped on the in-line 6, duel exhaust attached to it with glass packs, wide fat tires put on the back, a deep almost candy apple paint job done, drew up a hood scoop that I had made and attached by the body shop that did the paint, covered the windows with the reflective glass looking tint, the same some office windows had on them back 20+ years ago, carpeted inside with red plush carpeting all through out the interior. She wasn't a racer, but I thought she looked and sounded good.

Never did any mechanical stuff to the different Motorcycle's that I've previously owned, but after being here on this forum, I think I'm getting better and coming right along.

Same here. In HS I took European History, and in a particular lesson about Attila the Hun I decided to "Hun" myself up a bit. I used to have long hair, and so put it up in a very high pony-tail, (more Samurai Lawyer than anything really), and my friends started calling me Scourge, since Attila was known as the "Scourge of God".

Pinhy (pronounced, and correctly spelled, Pin-high). its a golf term meaning even or level with the flag, or 'pin' as it is somtimes called.

in college, while first learning to play golf, i was always very good at my distance, just not so much with aim. i would be way left or right of the green, but always about teh right distance. so my friends would joke "well, at least you are pin high!" i wanted to get a license plate with this on it but also wanted a Univ of Florida plate which only fits 5 letters...so i asked for Pinhi and it was taken....went with Pinhy and it is my login for pretty much everything i do online.

intimid8er---

Kind of a play on words since my name is Tim, and I'm a Dale Earnhardt Sr. and Jr. from the NASCAR circuit fan. Senior's nickname was The Intimidator. Using the 8 in the name is a nod to Jr. because his car number is the number 8. I have used this handle in some form or other on the Internet since '97.
