I know how he feels, my best all time big buddy (dog) died this summer as well. He was everything to me and you just have to grieve and cry allot, it eventually fads with time.
May he rest in peace. Dog

My Mom and Dads little yorkie-Ginger died some years ago, I grew up with her back home.....I moved away after college...about two years later, pretty early one morning I get a call from my Mom telling me she had passed, I could feel my heart sunk into my stomach when I heard that I cried some and ached for a few days. I still miss her, but the grieving helped me through as I'm sure it will with your Grandpa.

Well I deal with death on a regular occasion so here is a few helpful hints:
Let them have a funeral service of some sort for the dog, so they have a chance to express there greif.
Let them know that crying is okay, it shows how much they really cared and it helps to heal.
It is okay to have pictuers up around of the dog, it was a part of there family, and they should never forget.
I'am sorry death is a tough thing and everyone greives differently and at different times it is all normal and there is no correct way of doing, just be there for them.

Sorry, for there loss
