Some boards that get alot of traffic will run a regular chat thread for the nonsense to go into so that the serious folk won't mistake them for actual threads worthy of reading and there's less temptation to derail serious threads. Generally a new one each week or so, depending on traffic, is about how it works out. It's neat if you number them and each new thread gets a witty title that refers to some recent history on the board, so you end up with threads like this:

Chat Thread #13 - We're drilling the pipes again

Not a bad idea.

Chat Thread #1 --> stp is lonely
Chat Thread #3218 --> stp is STILL lonely

No don't kill it. It's already taking over other threads as it is. With out it, all the forums would be open season. Then, none of us would be safe.

Why close the most popular thread we've ever had? It is actually an interesting slice of life if you've followed it.

stick it with a fork... its done. Then we can see if someone else can bring a topic with such longevity and levity to the table.

Well I have to say I enjoy the exploits of Sean and Doug, it is a part of Suzuki-Bikes.com. It shows that we are a community. (albeit a twisted one) It's a little slice of Americanna if you would, an insight into the male phsychic, it's the Walton's, South Park, and the Simpson's all rolled into one. It is rich with history and real life drama...

well at least when I am having a bad day I can read it and find joy in their misery.

notice how there are 9 YES votes and 11 NO votes....yet only 3 people has said YES in public...so the cowards that vote YES dont say it in public, dont want those of us that say NO to know it is them!

i say leave it...how is it hurting anyone? if you dont like it, dont read it, just like any other thread, its that easy.

I voted yes and posted before I read the entire thread. Seems like the admins are getting tired of seeing it too. Oh and "dont" is don't.
