Cant say that exact situation has happend but I left a company because they were treating me like a piece of gear not an valued employee and paid like crap. 3 years later they started calling me to hire me back as a freelancer at 8 times my old pay rate. Vindication?

The catch here is: YOU left them. They dont have to hire you back at all. They could see it as "oh he's only here until he finds a better offer." The loyalty factor works both ways.

+1. They have no idea how long you'll be around now. Why should they invest in you?

Besides, Dairy Queen will be closing for the season soon. You're going to be laid off anyway.

Yes loyalty is a major factor here. I own a business and we do hire people back when they find that they are not happy with their new job. But they usually get worse hours and there is a feeling that they are just going to leave again. The grass is always greener thing. I mean after all we feel we need to be loyal to the employees who stick it out with us, they get the best hours.

I've been telling him that too! Roger is pissed that you left him so he's screwing you over, like you did to him. Plus they'll never pay you more, you make almost as much as Roger anyways.

you really have to watch out when leaving an employer - be careful what bridge you burn as you may have to cross it again on the way back. Sometimes the best way to go backwards is to move forwards and show that you really are the most valuable employee they need.

If you're so underpaid, then how does a 21-year-old afford a 2005 GSXR 600?? But seriously, lose the attitude and get on with your life. The world owes you nothing.

I quit my job and they won't hire me back. What should I do? They treated me like crap. I think I'll go back and rob them.

Sorry but have to agree with the others here. No matter how exceptional and loved you may have been, that all went out the door when you did.

The company I work for has a policy of never rehiring anybody who has quit.

On a side note did they hire somebody to replace you when you left ? If so do you expect then to fire him/her to give you your spot back when the trust has been compromized ?.

I probably wouldn't rehire anyone who quit on me, if I wasn't good enough to them to make them want to work for me then why should I take them back when they realised the grass isn't always greener on the other side?

But if I did it would be to mess them up a little......
