Works for me. I wish they would do the same here if it can be proven without a shadow of a doubt,, I bet crime rates would plummit!!!!

I'm not in a big hurry to endorse Islmaic Sharia law - there are plenty of downsides...

But I'm not against dropping off convicted bike thieves in the Afghani countryside. Naked.

we're not talking all their laws just the part about thieves. I'm all for chopping off the hands of thieves in the felony class. anything accumulative value of 500 or more.

Wow! One mistake lasts a life time!! Maybe the guy was fleeing for his life! I don't know why someone would do that but the punishment seems severe.

Look at my wife, I poke your eyes out. Kiss my daughter, I remove your lips.

There is no place for that type of brutality.

Absolutely brutal. You people who say you agree with that are either lying or not friends of mine.

Oh cool

That's just plain stupid. Live by your times people.

They are still debating reinstating Sharia in Ontario. Come one we're in Canada, live by the rules we have here. I can accept foreigners without issues but do comply to the established rules. If you have a job that requires a specific uniform don't complaint if you can't wear your turban. I'm sorry, the same rules for everyone. Religion should be practiced at home. Don't ask to be allowed to wear your ceremonial knife at school. Knifes or any weapons aren't allowed in schools. Period. This is just too much.

I know I'm opening a HUGE debate here. As I said I respect people's opinions, respect mine as well. We are unique individuals with unique ideas and ideals. But also respect the laws and tradition of the country you are in.

'nough said.

On a DIFFERENT topic:
Anyone wants to join MY religion, it's pretty fun

The Sharia is why they are cutting this teenager's hand (because he stole a bike). It then evolved into a religion topic. Makes sense

I still prefer the texan way... shoot first, ask questions later!!! Yey, Bush!!! Our opinion is a matter of sociological preference, not religion... Personaly, theives don't get or deserve a single drop of pity. They need to be purged... We tolerate capital punishment, just like how canadians don't believe in taking life but would rather spend tax dollars putting up a roof over their heads and 3 meals a day... not to mention free gym memberships that I paid $25 a month over the last 3 years.

Personally i agree with such a punishment...problem with alot of the laws here are how lenient they are and as such many people commit crimes and simply don't care, because the consequences aren't grave enough. There's never going to be such laws here because all those activists would be crying and going on forever and ever...

for instance, in singapore where my dad is from, if you bring drugs into the country, you are executed. No questions asked. Criminals are beaten and punishments are very harsh. No wonder it feels safe walking around there at 11 pm on any night alone where as over here it's not quite a "leisurely walk in the park."

It's basically the same discussion that we would be having about the death penalty. Does it reduce crime or deter criminals? No. Does someone think "gee, I guess I won't shoot this guy, because I might get sentanced to death?". No. Have innocent people been put to death? Yes.

The death penalty is not permitted in Europe. No member state of the European Union may impose a death penalty. There are some sick people here, who commit terrible crimes, but they are sentenced to life without a possibility for parole - either in a maximum security prison or in a maximum security psycologoical clinic.

Now, I have to say I agree with Louis (maybe not as adamantly as he is, but still I agree) - religion is something personal, and should be practiced at home. I don't care if someone is wearing a cross, star of David or a crecent moon on their necklace. I don't care if a woman wears a scarf. But I do object when the religious practices of others interferes with my freedom, or they start demanding exceptions to rules that everyone else must follow.

And NO! I'm not interested in reading the Watchtower!
