Metal lives!

Anybody remember, Gorky Park? Had that song Bang. I loved that album for some reason, though now, I can't figure out why.

Also,

Metallica
Poison
Great White
Twisted Sister

Honorable mention, and I can't believe No one mentioned them, yet.
Dokken
Firehouse
Slaughter
Faster Pussycat

I saw Firehouse open up for someone once. Their lead guitarist did a solo and he was raking this ring on his picking hand up the string during the run. It sounded really tight and fit perfectly. It was pretty cool.

Good music though!

I wouldn't want to be at the back stage party when Accept and Judas Priest toured together.

Death Angel
"I'm Bored" was a great song. I also thought their version of "Cold Gin" was bad-ass. True to the original, but had their spin on it.

"Confused" rocked.

They weren't mentioned because the question was "80's metal" not "80's hairbands."

And you wouldn't classify, Whitesnake, Great White, RATT, and Poison in the 80's Hair Bands genre.

I submit for evidence...

Poison

White Snake

And even RATT

Chicster, if you make me laugh any harder, my beverage of choice will shoot out my nose.

Good catch.

The number of hard rock vs the all important "hair band" discussion could go on for who knows how long.

BTW, have to throw in "Motorhead."

This tread has come back to life, I'll chime in

G-N-R best band of all time.
Metallica. Dont care much for their later stuff, but in the 80s they defined METAL.
ACDC timeless
Iron Maiden. what metal should sound like.
Pantera. No quiet 80s. more early 90s. but raw, aggressive power.

I dont think metal really died after the 80s-early 90s. Think it went underground, left the mainstream. The audience just wasnt there, For the most part, music feeds on the young, All the metalheads grew up, the younger kids were more intrested in hip-hop. In the end it just hit critical mass, all the bands started sounding alike, all with the hair and the power ballads. Metal lives, just not in the top 40.

I gotta go with IronFist or Bomber.

Jim, I left out Motorhead, because both Bomber and Overkill came out in '79. Nut said to leave out bands that released albums in the '70's.

And I thought that I would draw a laugh with those pics.

No, Zenn, I will disagree with you. G-N-R had their moment in the sun, but after a couple of hundred times of hearing their music, it's lost it's flare.

As for Mettallica, you mean you didn't like that they were covering Tom T Hall, Englebert Humperdinck and Buck Owens?

Engelbert Humperdinck welcomes you to his site!

...............the cr8p that don't pass for music these days, man.

even the weavers or leadbelly or Hank Williams is better than that. Way better.
