Default Great White

-Nut,

I see in your sig line that you are in "The House of Broken Love." I think it's safe to assume that you are a Great White fan also?

I have seen them no less than 5 times (twice on the Great-Whitesnake tour!!). I am absolutely a Mark Kendall fan.

One of the first solos I learned <to butcher> all of the way thorugh is the one for "Rock Me." Maybe it's a Memphis thing, but I love the bluesy-rock style he exudes from every pore of his body (not a fan of the Kramer guitars, though ).

Live, his solos kick some serious tail, dude.

Rather than start a new thread, I'll just bastardize this one:

The new topic: Extreme

On my way into work today, I listened to Extreme II: Pornograffi.tti (A funked up fairy tale). My observations:

Nuno Bettencourt is an awesome player, but . . . how on earth can a person possess such mastery over the instrument and still write such crappy songs? Sheesh.

The guy can riff like nobody's business, but the songs suck. Dude is really the only reason the sold anything, IMO.

His sound is cool as all-get-out. He uses a slightly perceptible doubling effect, coupled with a nice Marshall-esque crunch, with the clarity of a Rockman. Nice.

. . . but the songs still suck.

I pulled that CD out a couple of months ago. I found it to be very dated. Nuno can shred, though.

Look at Roy Clark, and Ry Cooder. HELLACIOUS pickers. It's the grinnin' that always bothered me though.

Nuno's tone reminds me of fingernails on a chalkboard. Chops, yes. Tone, nope.

What? I love his tone. It's so . . . clear-crunchy.

Default First song you learned.....all the way through

Alright since it's starting to rain, and my jacket shopping this morning was a bust, I'm jacking this tread.

As the title states what was the first song you learned to play all the way through???

Now as a hack on the guitar I've learned many bits and pieces over the years of many many songs, but I can probably still count on my fingers and toes the ones I know (proficiently) from start to finish.

The first one I ever mastered was Limelight.

I use the word mastered here as liberally as possible.

Wow, I'm going to have to think on that one . . .

Solo included? Rock Me - Great White

Rhythm only? Hmm . . . Leper Messiah - Metallica (maybe it was Sweet Emotion . . . I can't remember)

I have to know 40-50 songs on any given night. Vocals included.

Now you do, but surely you remeber the first song you plucked out all the way through. Not including any of the Mel Bay stuff of course
