One is for drinkers, the other is for drunks. I used to be a drunk, but at 33, I'm more of a drinker.

Same here, Scourge. I can actually go out to enjoy a few beers versus going out to get hammered.

(occasionally I still go out and get hammered.......I guess it's a firefighter rule or something.....hehehe)

I'll agree with you on this one.

I love stouts, and would humbly suggest that any Guinness drinker out there try to find a bar that has Beamish stout on tap.

I'm sure you'd like it, 3Dachs, because nobody would ever accuse Beamish of being "thin-tasting." It's much denser than Guinness, and has a creamy (and I mean CREAMY) head that lasts forever. (Well, it lasts as long as it takes me to finish a pint, which is 5-6 minutes. That's forever, right?)

Also, I hope that folks in the States know that the Guinness factory has several different formulations and that the style that it sends to the U.S. is weaker than what you'd get in a Dublin pub.

I just got introduced to Rogue Chocolate Stout, and Young's Double Chocolate Stout. Quite impressive.

But you need to down a WHOLE lot more American beer to get drunk ... I remember in Utah that beer was limited to 3.2% ... and a typical beer has about 5% ... over here, we've got beers with up to 12% alcohol

Just received two cases of Molson Triple X from NY yesterday. That stuff is 7.3% abv.

I do believe I'll be confessing to crimes I never committed this evening.

I'm having a particularly good beer night: I'm quaffing a couple of Anchor Steams while waiting for some bottles of Chimay to chill.

Life is GOOD!

I use to make my own home brew, I not excatly sure the percentage because one time we tested it and it was 9% and another time it was 11%. Either way i was a heavy drinker back then, i mean like 12+ beer then to the bar. But after drinking this stuff i was getting drunk off of 3 beer. It was good stuff, i can't wait to start brewing again.

We've got a micro brew here in town that sells a beer called Dirty Bastard. Its a stout and its 12%. Will kick you down a flight of steps, and make you say uncle. Founder's is the name. My personal favs are

1) yinglings (spelling is goofed) Nice and light, good flavor.
2) Guiness, for when I wanna drink my dinner.
3) Gotta throw budweiser in there, I actually drink this the most...cuz I'm cheep
4) Bell's Oberon. Nother Microbrew, made in Kalamazoo...Good Flavor, summer beer. Goes great with an Orange...
5) Busch Light. I don't really drink this anymore...but its gotta be on the list, just because of the sheer volume consumed while in college.

Over the weekend I had one of the best IPA's I've ever had, it's called Dogfish Head IPA, it's brewed in Delaware. Truly great!

My favourite beers are any of the Coopers beers (Australia's last privately-owned brewery). All naturally produced with bottle secondary fermentation...None of the after taste you get with some of the commercial beers! I usually drink the Cooper's Sparkling ale (5.8% alc/vol), and occasionally drink Cooper's Vintage (only brewed at certain times of the year - 7.5% alc/vol).

Recently, I've started trying to brew my own and I am also using Cooper's home-brew stuff. I tried a Pale Ale first (turned out OK for a first attempt), and just put down 20lt of Coopers Sparkling...Already looking forward to getting my teeth into that!
