Default Bike updates since Don thinks I ain't doin' nuttin'

Spent 5.5 -hours on the 750 today:

Installed new wheel front bearings, swapped rotors and installed this front wheel from an '88 1100 on the front. New front tire is a Metzeler Z6. Wheel was part of my "burn bike" - a 750 that was in a garage fire a few years ago.

I PITY DA FOOL WHO DON'T HAVE A Mr. T CHAIN! I missed my Mr. T chain that was on my 1100 which I sold earlier this year. Fortunately, Bill's Bikes and Service hooked me up with this DID and a new set of sprockets. I dropped two teeth on the rear since the racetrack gearing was hard to deal with at highway speeds. Had to hunt around for the original '88 1100 wheel parts, since the '87 750 sprocket carrier won't work with the '88 1100 rear wheel. Installed all that today. This wheel was once mounted for a track day at Thunderhill on this same bike. New rear tire is a Metzeler Z6.

Much more work to do this week. Today's time doesn't count the time it took me to order all the parts, have the tires mounted, and cleaning the wheels. I did that stuff before Thanksgiving.

That's not Armor All, Nut goes so fast that the wind actually polishes the sidewalls.

HAHAHA! Actually, those tires have exactly two miles on them. They are still kinda shiny. I remember seeing a set or armor-alled tires on this kids bike at work a few years ago. Made me shudder. He armor-alled the TREAD too. Oops.

More:

The tach mount setup I rigged up in 1993.

The ORIGINAL instrument cluster back on there now. Note the "600-mile" break-in sticker still on the ODO. I got the bike when it had something like 8,800 miles or so. I also fixed a faulty brake light switch. Nice having the speedometer back. It was fun trying to remember how to re-connect all this stuff.

I'm still amazed at how clean the garage is. Even have stuff in marked containers. I'm impressed. Bike looks good too.

Plus, 'nuts running old school and racing them. I've always wondered how many bikes, at the peak of his racing, 'nut could build just out of spare parts.

Guess you better be organized, go crazy or go home. You don't get white expert plates by doing it half way.

I think it was five. I have sold off a lot of the spare stuff since then.

I still have TOO MUCH LOL!

OK . . . bled brakes and clutch, relubed "pivot points" on levers, and also the brass insert on the clutch lever. Cleaned a lot of the gunk off the dash internals etc. Also relubed throttle cable, cleaned rust off bolts, safety-wired front hitch pin and readjusted chain. Installed upper fairing and the mids.

Feels like clutch starting to slip now. Eh, sux. I'll ride it some more to determine if it is so.

Bike is riding and looking a LOT better.

Done? You didn't even tighten the handlebar springs! I thought you were a pro.

Got bike out and running after 2 1/2 months of cold storage. Brake fluid leaked all over my left mid. CRAP! I think I have an extra one somewhere.
