Upgraded from Windows ME to XP. Since I use Mozilla, lost all of my bookmarks during the transition.

I backup other important stuff - business info, websites etc. Just didn't cross my mind. To do that.

FWIW - I have used ME since 2000. Heh heh, crap, yes, but it got me through.

Yeh, if I'm going to do a clean format and install, I normally make a long list well in advance of things I need to back-up. It's those things in the Program Files subdirectories and Windows directories.. and OE/Thunderbird e-mail that you'll forget everytime.

Wait, you were running Windows ME? I'm sorry. If I would have known, I could have gotten you a Get Well card, because I'm sure that you were in pain for the past few years... that operating system was horrible, and barely a jump in features from 98, and a possible loss of stability. No wonder it was pulled from the shelves so quickly.

I'm running the new Windows Vista beta2 [32-bit], dual-booted on my desktop at home. Great OS so far.. lots of eye-candy. I think that the final release is going to appeal to a lot of people, but now the problem is going to find users that have computers high-end enough to run the OS without lagging. You ought to give it a try if you have some good hardware!

+1. I've been doing annual reinstalls for years and have just such a list (though it's mental by now).
