I just mapped it useing Mapquest instead of Ma Point lol and it turns out to be a 6 hour and 33 min ride and with Lunch its about 7 to 8 hours and that will be good for me.Oh and I made one misstake, I said I would ride to Fort Valley but then Looked again and desided on Henderson,Ga is where I and we from Florida will Turn to Montezuma,Ga. Now to get other riders from Florida to join in will be the trick here. I think I can get one of M-J Florida Members to go if hes not working FSU PD (member Hambone)that day.

Ok it looks like we have a Day to do this ride.
It will be Sunday, October 5th, 2008. We will all meet in the city of Monezuma at noon to noon 30. From there GeorgiaRoller will take over as the Tour Guide due to the fact that he knows Georgia History in this case lol If he agrees to do it. ( I do hope he does )

I'm good with that plan.

Nathan - you riding? If so, I'll probably head towards Barnesville via 18 and ride south with you if that's cool. Back and forth on the proposed route is only about 200mi for me, I'm gonna need to add on some riding both directions to get up to 300 at least. You know if Alex or Smurf have seen this thread?

Am I riding? Do you even have to ask?.........Yeah I'm in. I'll PM Alex & Scott and see if they want to go as well. Maybe you can check with Harryson. Actually meeting in B'ville makes good sense. We can take a nice ride straight down from my house. There's a historic covered bridge we can swing by on the way down and check out.

As far as lunch is concerned, Montezuma is known for it's Mennonite population (similar to the Amish). I've heard there's a good restaurant that they run. I'll check with a guy I know that's been there to get the scoop. There's really next to nothing down in that area. If you guys want to try something different we could eat there. You can't be picky when your down in that part of GA.

Yoders Restaurant Link http://www.roadfood.com/Reviews/Writ...837&RefID=1769

EDIT - YODER'S IS CLOSED ON SUNDAYS - SHOULD HAVE KNOWN BETTER!

Guys, the problem with the deep south in small towns on Sunday's is that only fast food places are open. Any interest in Making the Ride Saturday the 4th?

Default Sunday Lunch Solution

We could meet in Cordele and ride a short distance to Lake Blackshear Golf Resort and eat at Cordelia's. It's open on Sunday from 11am to 2pm. We'd need to make a reservation, so I'd have to get a firm number on riders. This might be our best bet for a Sunday ride.

Cordele GA Restaurants: Lake Blackshear Resort Golf Club Official Site Cordele central GA Veterans Memorial State Park area lakeside dining hotels conferences centers suites romantic family vacations getaways packages weddings meetings planning

Lake Blackshear Resort Golf Club Official Site Cordele Georgia Dining - Lunch Menu

OPTION 1: We could then ride approx 60miles west and visit Providence Canyon State Park.

Driving Directions from Cobb, GA to Lumpkin, GA

Georgia State Parks - Providence Canyon State Park Then ride our seperate ways home after that.

OPTION 2: After lunch we could ride up through Americus to Andersonville and visit the the Civil War Villiage. Plus there also having a fair that weekend.

Americus Times-Recorder, Americus, Georgia - Historic Fair comes to Andersonville Oct. 4-5

Andersonville - Civil War Village

Lunch spot looks good to me. I'll ride wherever...

OK...........I'm finally off on a weekend that a ride has been planned. I have to re-model the bathroom between now and then (make Mama happy). I have been wanting to go Andersonville, Plains, and Americus for a while.

Hey Roller and Baker, which route are ya'll taking to Cordele, I-75 or Ga. 19 to Americus ?

Keep your fingers crossed that there aren't any Riots, Floods, Mass Murders, or Terrorist Attacks between now and then.

I'll probably head from M'ville through Forsyth on 18 to meet up with Roller in Barnesville, if that works for him...

I'll keep my fingers crossed....

Let's all meet in Barnesville and head south on Hwy 19 straight down. I'd est. it's about a 1hr 45minute ride to 2hrs frome B'ville down to the lunch spot.

Driving Directions from Thomaston, GA to Cobb, GA

If you want to leave early enough....say 8:30am (in Barnesville) we could ride down to the Civil War Cemetary in Andersonville and take a pit stop there. Should get there between 10am & 10:30am. Get off the bikes, stretch and check out what's down there. Then ride down to Lake Blackshear (est. 30 more miles). Get down there before Noon. Once we know how many are going for sure, I'll make us a lunch res. Say for 12:15pm.

Who's in for sure from GA? (Nathan, Ben, Scott.....so far)

Alex: We need a photographer!

Harryson: They've got soup!
