Actually the 7th (Sunday) would be better for me. I went with the 6th because it was the first date posted by another member.

I'll look into it at work....if I can get the day off I'm definitely in. Need to make sure I don't have a 3am shift the following day this time.......

GeorgiaRoller/PurpleHaze/other GA riders: any thoughts on a meet somewhere and making the ride together from here?

Meeting up would be the best.

Sunday, would be better. Then I could use Monday, as a recovery day.

ALL M-J MEMBERS ARE INVITED.

Here's the rough plan. We'll meet up at O' Charley's in Oxford, AL at 10:30am local time. For reference, since you gain an hour from Atlanta to Oxford, and it's a 1 hr 30 minute ride, you'd need to leave Atlanta by 10:00am local time.

I called O' Charley's in Oxford and they said they open at 10:30am on Sundays. This way we can chat for a few and then eat around 11:00am before the church crowd arrives for lunch.

Others who can't get there as early as 10:30am can arrive by 11:30 when we are finishing up lunch and ride with us.

When:
Sunday, Sept 7th, 10:30am

Where:
O' Charley's
4 Recreation Dr
Oxford, AL 36203
(256) 831-8305

Since we will be going straight out I-20, how about an exit somewhere on I-20.

I pick-up I20 at Madison....I'm not sure where the riders from the Jackson area get on at. If I can make the trip you and I can meet up in Madison and pick them up further along the road if that is best for them. Or we could all meet in Madison.

I looked up restaurants in Oxford and the two closest that are right off of I-20 is Chik-fil-a and O' Charley's. It's off the Oxford exit and first road to right if you're coming from I-20 Atlanta side. I looked at them and figured it was the easiest. There doesn't seem to be a town at the exit just before the exit where O' Charley's is but if you find something there that would be fine.

I just did the mapquest...we're looking at approx. 145mi from Madison to Oxford. The riders from Jackson it looks like would take 75N to I20. I'm guessing it would be easiest to take the 285 loop south of Atlanta and meet them right around where 285 and 75 meet, exit 61 or so after all the airport stuff, then pick 20 back up outside of Atlanta.

Thanks to all for putting this together. Sounds like a good time for all and will also check with the office, the wife and see what the doctor says, as I'm going in for surgery on the 11th. Not really worried about work and the wife.

Ben, it would be easier for me to meet you at Hwy 124 and I-20 (exit 75) There is a McDonalds right there if you turn left off of the highway. Maybe the others can meet us around Fulton Ind. Blvd and I-20.

So far, from Bama we've got OleSmokey, Rkr0923 and me.

From Greorgia we've got PurpleHaze, 1BadBaker, Alex13, GeorgiaRoller, Smurf and M50RiderGA.

That's 9 so far. Can we get double digits?

Sorry for this but the 7th is going to be out for me. I wish I could make it since you guys are going to be right in my back yard on that day but duty calls. The 6th would have worked better for me but I will catch up with you all on the next one hopefully.
Hey Jim, there are several eating joints on exit 188 (see my earlier post). It is a new development on I-20 so it might not be showing up on some of the search engines.
Stay safe. If anything changes on my end I will gladly bring up the rear.

OleSmokey, after reading your posts, looking at the maps again and being better informed, I think exit 188 would be better for meeting. If we meet up off of exit 185 then the Georgia folks have to back track 3 miles to exit 188 to head down to Cheaha State Park.

I see that Cracker Barrel and Olive Garden are right off of I-20 at exit 188. Any votes for Cracker Barrel or Olive Garden?

Either place works for me.

Doesn't matter to me....I did drive to Jackson the other morning "just because" so whatever place is best for you I will do...

Default South Side GA. Riders!

I'm not too excited about riding the interstate through the ATL., so for any who are interested in taking the scenic country way I'll be leaving from Barnesville and taking Hwy 109 straight to LaGrange. I can get to LaGrange in 1hr on this route from B'ville. All you want to, are welcome to follow me on this route if its more convienent for you.
