I guess I'd have to say that I don't know, have never had a day longer than 150 miles and that day was very tiring. The problem is that between work and play I spend about 12 hours a day at a computer the result being I don't get much exercise. Next week should be the last week of my physical therapy for the rotator cuff surgery and I'm hoping they'll finally let me get on the 'real' equipment.

I've put the Suzuki gel seat on my bike which while not being quite as good as the other replacement seats is better than the original seat. I'll replace the handlebars with the old style buckhorn bars from the Intruders, I think I'll like the ends being turned down a little better for comfort. I'd like to replace the round footpegs with something a little flatter but Kuryakyn says they don't make the right adapter. I've seen their pegs on S50/Intruders though, will have to work on that. These are not major things but every little bit helps. The S50 is not the ideal touring bike but should be adequate.

When spring comes I'm going to start practicing and work up to some 200 to 250 mile days during May and June. I'll see how that goes but this summer I will be going places if at all possible.

The Lake Michigan trip should be interesting I'm thinking but not too excessive for a newbie.

Yeah, sitting at the puter does nothing for you physically. Guess I am lucky in that respect, I am walking, lifting, jumping for a good portion of my day. Even with that, as I age, I do have the need for a daily routine which I limit to sit ups and push ups. Better than nothing.

I am not aware of what all you have on your bike. If I knew what adapter you need I could probably make it myself, FOC. I am a machinist you know. If you have the ability and software draw the part you need.

Thanks for the offer Vinnie. If it comes to that I may take you up on it. I asked my dealer about getting new pegs and he called Kuryakyn while I was there, they had nothing for a S50 or Intruder VS800. However, I've seen several pictures of a S50 with the pegs I want on, like this one for example, a picture I downloaded from M-J. It's just matter of finding someone who knows which part works.

Last summer the wife and I stayed in Houghton and then went up to Copper Harbor for a drive, really a nice area. Highway 26 along the Lake Superior shore is a beautiful drive and I'd like to get back there only this time on my bike. My son has a cottage in Rhinelander and I'm planning on spending some time up there riding around northern Wisconsin. Maybe another chance for a meetup. We'll see.

Before i took my NC trip i think the longest ride i had was maybe 120-140 miles at once and about 200 miles total days ride. I'm pretty sure i'm out for any big trips this year but smaller one i might be for. Also I have one of these and would recommend it for any distance of riding if you don't have one already. My crapbuster is in a land fill somewhere. Really like my Kury throttle boss though.

Mike, I know somebody that knows somebody that works for Kury. I'll see what I can do.

That's another one of the things I added to the 9 this winter.

If you already have ISO grips then it is an inexpensive addition. Reversible so can be used on both sides.

I called my friend at Kuryakyn this morning, and he said they have never had an S50 in there shop to do fitment on, so company policy won't let him recomend what bracket will fit your bike, however he did say that they have had a 1500 Intruder in, and they do make brackets for it (part number 8820), he sugested that you check with your Suzuki dealer to see if the brackets for the two bikes are the same, if they are this part should work for you.

Another Possibility would be part number 7939 that they make for the M50.

My friend is a manager for Kury, and it may be possible if you want to bring the bike over to set up a meeting at there office in Somerset Wi to explore other options, but a better (quicker) option might be for you to check with some of your local shops that carry Kury parts to see if they have either of the above mentioned parts in stock that you might be able to eyeball on your bike.

Thanks for the info Rick, that gives me a few ideas. I'm going to look at an online parts fiche and see if there are some common part numbers that are known to work with other bikes, then take that to my dealer to see what we can figure out. I know they have some Kury parts in stock, but mostly, these kids are lost.

I know it's possible because I've seen the Kury pegs in pictures of several S50s.

Well I found out today that the family reunion is canceled due to some of my older relatives being in bad health. I still would like to make this trip so the dates are wide open for me, unless I am once again gainfully employed, starting on the ground floor, being the new buy with no vacation. Freakin' hate that!!!!

I guess I'm still open for this. I was laid off, went back to work, laid off again, and now my wife has been laid off from a job she had for 23 years. We're kind of in a funk around here, not much enthusiasm about anything. Oh well.

I think avoiding the July 4th week would keep us out of heavy vacationing traffic. I'd probably go along with the majority vote though. Any suggestions?

The sooner the better for me. I got a bad itch to ride!!!

Sorry to hear about your wife Mike, you guys gonna make it OK???

I'm not worried much about my situation. If necessary I have 59 weeks of U.I. as of 4/1. Could be a long vacation.

If you're saying it could be before July that's fine with me, I'm flexible and can work around other peoples schedule if need be.

We're going to be Ok here, thanks for asking. I'm going to be 62 this summer (yeah I'm that old) so it looks like early SS for me.
