I agree, if memory serves me correctly, there is a semi straight series if "S" turns just past where he went down that he may have tried to set up for too early.

To calrify, he never overshot it in the sense that he was in any danger of hitting the edge of the road. Rather he picked an inside line about 18" from the centerline and it appeared he intended to keep that line all the way through. However, as he was still turning progressively tighter a he approached the exit, causing him to drift to the center. That now put him in a more difficullt position to prepare for the next curve entrance. So he overshot "his line".

Yep, and when he started to shift his weight to the right to early, it forced the bike into a more extreme lean angle, and it just went out from under him.

I watched that over and over because something didn't look right, then I figured out what went wrong. watch the video closely, and pause/play it frame by frame from 1:07 to 1:09, right at the switch from 1:07 to 1:08, watch his left knee closely, it jerks inward towards the bike, then comes off the peg away from the bike.
From what it looks like, he was putting his knee out to emulate racers, but when the knee actually made contact and dragged, he wasn't ready for it and.... buh bye.

Two observations I had.

It appears the road is wet.

It appears that he may have levered something. Looked to me like he dragged a peg. Again, it just appears that way to me. Not that I'm right or wrong.

F'n A. That is the same spot. Only he made it further into the corner than I did.

Take a look at his body position. He thinks he's Mr. Rossi with his knee stuck way out, but his head and chest are upwards of the bike's center line. Classic squidliness. This screenshot is taken immediately before the front tucked. He got over too far for his comfort and pulled a typical survival reaction: pushing the bike down to get on top of it. He is not sliding at this point.

I had passed a Jeep on the previous straight and was therefore crossing back to the right lane where you see that last sign on the right. I was going too fast for my abilities, and I entered the same turn inside and not set up properly while still braking. I simply overused the front tire and it went out from under me. I might get into the details more later. There's something else I want to do first.

Some of those roads come at you without warning. One thing is to not ride beyond what you can see. Some of the curves up there makes you think you are set up for a certain type of curve. Then once you go through the apex of the curve you soon realize it becomes a sharp decreasing radius turn.

If I remember exactly which of the eleventy billion curves i went through down there.. I remember entering the corners only to realize my only chance not to cross the yellow was to just lean harder and hope for the best... That's where my inexperience showed a lot. One time i nearly gave shon a colonoscopy outside gattlenburg (sp?) and i had to straighten up on the corner and cross.

Just about half of all the accidents up there are speed related. The remaining accidents are because of rider inexperience and not being able to negotiate the turns, other people crossing over into your lane, or weather and too fast for conditions.

I have decided that if I really want to tear up the roads up there I am taking an extra two wheels up there in the form of a Vette or something of the sort.

As I have said I have a real and profound fear of broken bones now. Stupid collarbone and foot aches non-stop now and especially when the weather changes. Not a fun thing for me.

I figured you'd get a kick out of that one, It struck me even more so, because of the change you made to your quote above your avatar, I had misremembered (is that a word) and thought you had changed it to "BIT BY THE DRAGON" the same as the title to that video, but now I see it's "SCORCHED BY THE DRAGON"

Also, as you watch the whole thing, his lines are very bad. He is not even close to being smooth and holding his line. It is as if he is looking immediately in front of the bike instead of where he actually wants to go. And when he is going slower and sitting straight up on the bike he is still sticking his knee out. You are right. Classic squidliness.
