I figure roughly a total of 16 hours of driving, gassing up, eating, and stretching for Fri. This would be Clint and my driving hours. This would put us in or around Bloomington at 9:00 p.m. Pretty long day but I think we should be able to push it that far. We should have enough light that time. I really don't care to do too much riding after dark with a good case of fatigue. This would still leave a bit over 400 miles for Sat. So with Shon's range 3 to 4 stops + breaks we should be at the cottage by or before 4:00. Shon you only get 120 mi on the fiddy? You should be in the 150 to 180 range. You need a G-tank!!

Has anyone thought about the hotel situation Fri. night? It would be nice to get that somewhat ironed out soon.

If you dare choose a destination, I'll make reservations with my 20% discount. I thought we decided to leave it up in the air?

Should be only four.

So do you think we can make the 16 hrs Clint if there are no problems?? For me it would be nice to get into the deals gap area as early as possible.

Oh yeah before I forget again. I was going to get some co2. I have never carried these items can you give me some info as to where the best place to get them will be, how many, etc.... anything else I might need for flats, plugs, blah, blah.....

I'm thinking of reserving two rooms at a Bloomington, IN Econo Lodge. I can get them at $47 each plus taxes. What do you guys need in a hotel? Gotta have a hot tub? Personally, I'll shower, watch a little tube and be out cold after that long day.

I bought my CO2 from this ebay seller. He's in Minnesota and runs Buy it Now auctions in various quantities. Like I said, though, I'll have a kit and 12 cylinders, so you probably wouldn't need to buy any. If you do, they'd need to be the threaded type.

I assume that there is only one threaded type?? I think I should buy some cuz my tires are huge and if I have a problem it could really slow us all down!! Can I get the ones with thread locally? Not much time for an Ebay buy.

Some notes on the hotel: Poolside rooms (shouldn't be a problem since we'll be up early anyway), cancellation by Wednesday (means we pay if we don't make it), and $53 per room with tax.

I had a hard time finding CO2 cartridges locally, and they're probably much more expensive. If you Buy it Now you'll have more than enough time. You'll get them Monday or Tuesday.

Vinnie, any bicycle shop should be able to help you out with the CO-2

We can make Bloomington easy in 16 hours if we just keep our stops short, 10 to 15 min for gas stops, and one 30 min stop for lunch, I did the whole trip from Gatlinburg to St Paul in 18 hours, so we should be able to make it to Bloomington in a little less than 15 hours. I rode 8 mph over the limit the whole time except for when I went through a big city, than I just kept up with traffic which was usually 20 over the limit.

Clint, I really don't see any advantage to reserving rooms unless there is some sort of convention in town we shouldn't have any problem getting lodgings, and as for me, I don't need a hot tub, just a shower in a non smoking room. If you do make reservations, I would suggest the far side of town so we don't have to deal with any Sat morning traffic.

Dennis Kirk has a small SLIME pump (about the size of a pak of cigarettes) that sells fore around $35, and they have next day delivery for Mn addresses. I'll see if I can find a link for you

DennisKirk.com - Slime Mini Compressor Kit

Vinnie, I'm not sure if this is going to link for you, but if it doesn't, just go to the Dennis kirk web site and type in "slime" in there search window.

Also, I will be bringing either a bunch of CO-2 cylinders, or one of these slime pumps, so you really don't need anything for this trip. Between Clint and I, we will have you covered.

Same kit at CycleGear is $29.99 on the web,
Cycle Gear - SLIME PowerSport Tire Inflator: PowerSport Tire Inflator

Plus you get either the slime tubeless sealant or the standard sealant with it free.

What about tubed tires? Is there a quick repair on the road for these tires?

Slime makes a tubed tire repair setup too. Not sure how well this stuff works but it is for emergency repair only. Not intended to be riding on it for too long and too fast either.
