Default Bike Time in Michigan, July 18-20

Everyone is welcome to a great Bike Time in Muskegon, Michigan this summer. We had over 20,000 bikes here last year and expect many more this year. Check out the attached picture.

Bikes are starting to come in already and the event doesn't start for another day. Looks like this is going to be a huge event.

Yes there are going to be vendors. I took a ride last night to the strip and I going to guess there were 12-15 vendors already setup. I am assuming there will be a ton more setting up today. I'm actually not in Muskegon but in a small village which is about 10 miles from downtown Muskegon.
I was surprised about the number of bikers on the strip last night already. They had the streets blocked for everything but bikes and there were several hundred bikes parked already. Not sure if they were just marking out their territory or what but most of the bikes were in front of the bars.
Looks like it is going to be big. Hope the rain stays away.

I road down the iron horse alley last night and there had to be at least 3 times the bikes that were there on Friday night last year. Its 1:00pm and raining with more on the way so I will wait for it to clear before going down there today. Too bad for the rain. I don't think there would have been enough room for all the bikes if the rain had not come today.
What a bunch of great looking bikes there.

Pictures of the event. It had just finished raining and the numbers were a bit down but increasing.

I was there Friday evening about 9:00pm and you could hardly move because of the number of people. Also there Sat about 2:00pm and probably because of the rain, there looked to be about 1/2 the people that were there on Friday night.

I saw 2 other Strats on Sat. One red with Corbin bags. Wife and I walked the entire iron horse alley and it was great. Lots of good pictures. I would say the Harleys outnumbered the metrics 8 to 1. I have a picture of a Triumph Rocket that was painted great.

Overall I think it was a huge success and I did hear one estimate that the peak crowd was close to 100,000 but that may have been a little high.

I enjoyed the dino drags. Kind of cool watching two bikes drag racing and not moving. One had a very loud tick coming from the engine when he crossed the finish line.

I did have one thing happen that I thought was very funny. We were at the northern end of the bike alley and were standing there watching the bikes enter the one way on the alley. We were standing there close to a group of people that were dressed the part to be member of the Harley culture. A group of Motor scooters (mostly young kids) about 30 strong entered the alley. One of the fine ladies made the remark, "Scooter trash". I and everyone in hearing distance laughed. I'm still laughing.

Perhaps none of the pictures were "G" rated.

If you go up a few posts you will find this link but here it is again. Its captioned as Windows Live Space. I took the pictures on Saturday right after about 4 hrs of rain so the people number was down but on Friday and Saturday nights, there was 10 blocks of solid people and you could hardly move.

Actually there was no R rated stuff going on that I could see. So far in the 2 years it has been a good clean rally and I think there were only 1 or 2 arrests this year. No fights that I heard of. I have listened to the scanner and there was almost no police activity at the rally or the camping sites on the police scanner. No accidents either and with 60,000 bikes, that was great.
I know a lot of stuff gets overlooked but my wife felt totally safe both times we went down to the steel alley. I would not be afraid to take my grandchildren down there at all. Worst thing was a few of the bikes were really loud but the kids loved that.
