I'm with Clint on this one, no point in starting out tired.

It's about a 3 hour ride for me, so even if I left at 8, I could still be there by 11.

It gets dark at about 8 at that time of year, so if we plan on eating lunch there, it would still give us 8 hours of daylight to get past Indy before dark, and even if we fall a little short of Indy on the first day, the second day should still be a shorter one.

Thank God!! I was a little concerned about starting out early and being more tired and fatigued than everyone else. But actually if we leave at 6 or 7 that would put us in heavy morning traffic through MPLS/SP. Maybe 5ish would be better.

D'oh! Small town boy over here completely forgot about rush hour.

Depending on where we are in each time zone, we should have daylight well past 9 p.m. We'll be just three weeks short of the equinox.

So am I. I was out in the shed yesterday staring at the bike. It's quite a feeling to make it my companion for a journey such as this. It gets my sense of adventure warmed right up.

I haven't seen my bike since Thanksgiving but will finally pick it up Wednesday. I'll get to ride 4 whole days then it's down to KY for two weeks. I'm seriously thinking about renting a trailer and taking it down with me. Otherwise I have only three weeks riding and practice before Deals Gap.

Starting to get concerned. Oh well, it will be fun whether fast, medium, or slow.

I am really looking forward to this.

By the way, before last year I hadn't heard of Monkey Butt so obviously I didn't know about Anti Monkey Butt powder either.

Anyways when I googled it I ran across what still is one of my favorite videos.

[Edit:] Oops, that was out in left field.

Ok, put me down as committed.

I finalized my work schedule so I'm all set, I'll be near Glasgow KY the week previous to our trip, although at this point I'm enthused enough about this trip that I would have driven down from WI anyways. I'll be in Robbinsville Sat 5/31 sometime in the morning.

Any thoughts on the number of people in the cottage, will it be big enough, or is there a chance we could need another room in the hotel. As I mentioned before I considered getting my own room (I'm a very noisy sleeper) but I haven't done anything yet. I checked and they as of right now have a few rooms left.

I understand there's no way of knowing at this point. Do we just pack everyone in whatever it takes?

I have no problem getting my own room, my concern is if only a few people showup then the cottage gets real expensive on a per person basis.

Just thinking a little.

Cool! I'm all for saving money, but we shouldn't go more than a room is designed for. As long as my backside isn't brushing against someone else's, I'm good.

Ok, so for now we're good to go as is with the cottage. I wanted to mention this again because I had posted once that I was considering another room.

The answer to that question would be yes.

I dont know if you guys have heard but last year THP cracked down on the dragon and in the summer there were cops EVERYWHERE up there. It was so bad you couldnt make it up the dragon without seeing atleast 5 cops. But maybe they will forget this year. I would rather have cops than their other plan though, they wanted to put speed bumps up there which would = death. Just thought i would throw that out there. Oh and if i am confident in my abilities by the time the run comes around i will message someone my cell number so you guys can get ahold of me when you get in the general area. Another thing, I may not live quite as close in june but it will still be a pretty quick drive.

Yeah, I've been watching that pretty closely. I just hope 40 mph provides some good lean.

Ok, I'm back...

1. Mark me as committed.
2. I'm weighing my options for meeting you guys on the 31st. My range is only 120-130 miles loaded. If I met up in Lexington, I might need 2 stops before Robbinsville. If thats a problem, I can just meet you there since I could make it a 1 day trip. No use slowing you down too much for the last 250 miles... Your call.
3. The cottage fits 5, but I seem to be the 6th to commit. Should I make my own arrangments? Its not a problem. Are we reserving under the Motorcycle-Journal group name?

The last one is important to know soon to make sure I'm at the same hotel.

Cool, Shon. Thunderburd seemed to want more space, so maybe we should spread out a bit. You might see if they have a deal that would fit two of us, leaving four in the other.

Don't worry about an extra stop. That's no problem. I'll be pretty surprised if we manage to go 150 miles very many times. Someone's gonna hafta pee.

I'm committed to, btw. Dang I'm excited! I found a 14" car rim today to make my tire swaps. Just gotta build a bead breaker.
