That's the route I was thinking of. Good roads except when you pass into Ill. Full of potholes and it is a toll road. How does that work with a bike? I can't recall if bikes had to pay or not but I assume so.

Maybe I was the only one that didn't know this but I found out a few months back that Google maps lets you move your route by dragging it with a cursor, very handy. You can really fine tune your path.

Route adjusted.

According to Google, this route is a mere 20 minutes slower, so I have little doubt that what Rick said is true.

What are our thoughts for the first night? Hotel near Bloomington? Further?

Yep bikes have to pay tolls, and the toll agent is only suposed to let one vehicle through for every time he/she lifts the gate, so we will need a plan for regrouping after the toll booths.

It's also handy if you can keep about $5 in one's in a place that you can get to without taking your gloves off.

Another plan that might speed things up, is for each of us to give the lead rider a few bucks, and have him pay for everybody.

Warning, this is a good way to kill a lot of time. Go to Live Local Search

The birds eye view is pretty impressive. I think the red roof buildings here is the hotel.

Did we pick up some more people that want to go, I see there have been 7 that voted in the poll?

Some archive data posted in #1. Post up if you want your "maybe" or "likely" upgraded to "committed".

If ya'll are coming to deal's gap, I could probably swing a couple of days at work and meet up for the dragon and possibly a second day of riding.

If you aren't coming down here....SW Wisconsin is nice. I've only rode it in a cage, but my parents are only a couple hours from there in NW Illinois, and they ride it quite frequently. "We're going around the block" usually becomes a 7hr trip through Wisconsin and back.

That would be cool, 1bad, but I was hoping to keep the number of Fitty riders to a minimum.

Knowing how weekends are in the Dragon, I assume we'd wait to ride it until Monday the Second. Thoughts?

I don't think any of us will really know for sure until we arrive and check things out for Sunday. Personally I will ride. Maybe not the Dragon specifically but I will ride.

Put me down as committed.

Aw, man....that hurts my feelings

Well, if you don't hit your quota for 50's, I can check the calander at work when ya'll figure out what days you'll be riding down here. I think it's about a four hour ride for me to get to Deal's Gap.

Yeah, Vinnie, I assumed we'd ride elsewhere that day. I just don't see the point of getting line on a Sunday. Rocky Mountain National Park was a friggin' parade the day I went through. It set us back several hours.

Those are the days that I have reserved the cottage. 4 nights 31,1,2,3 and leave 6/4. I was planning on leaving 6/4 and getting back 6/4 or 6/5. Does that work for everybody?

I'll check out what's happening at work. I might be able to head that way on the 1st in the evening and I would probably have to leave on the 3rd in the morning/early afternoon.
