The stupid server? Sounds like user error to me.

Nah. Too much on my mind today to worry about this. You guys can work on it. I may be searching for a new job. The f*#kups who ran the real estate/construction industry into the ground may be claiming another victim.

I have no problem getting up early & leaving right away, and I've ridden the V Strom straight through from Gattlenburg to St Paul (1025 miles, 18 hours) so long rides are not a problem, I'm just saying the concentration levels required for riding those roads will wear you out a lot faster than your used to.

As Sean said, the first year we did a 250 mile day (group ride) and everyone agreed that it was about 50 miles to long for those roads, now with all that being said, my vote would be for a longer (300+ mile) day on Sunday just to take full advantage of Sean's kind offer to be our tour guide, we can always rest up a bit on Monday.

One of the things I learned on my long trip in 06 was that if I tried to pack too much riding into one day, it all started running together, and everything started looking the same. QUALITY, not QUANTITY is the name of the game.

I am checking with my brother and the details of what time he has to be back that evening. That being said one of our Uncle's has cancer and they are not giving him long as well.

Now it is looking like if we want to go see him than we need to go soon. I have to work this weekend and the next I may get to go then. If that doesn't pan out then we will have to go the weekend of the trip.

I intend on going on Memorial Day weekend though to see him if I cannot work it in this weekend somehow.

I am going to tinker with a few more roads and see where it will come up with. What I really need to know from everyone here is what time are you all going to be in Robbinsville on Saturday evening, how late everyone plans on staying up, and how early everyone is comfortable with leaving in the morning.

I definitely do not want any tired riders running these roads and we all need to be alert. Once I get that info I can get with my brother and see how late he can be out on Sunday as he is supposed to get his kids that evening.

I need for Saturn, Mars, Venus, the Moon, and the Sun to align up .

Rowdy I'll keep you in my thoughts as well. Hopefully things will turn around on the market soon.

Thanks, Sean. I appreciate that. Nobody died, but it's still been a rough day.

For anyone who missed the link above after I edited it. Here is the route I will be running that way you guys get to tour Georgia and can have plenty to explore on Monday and the rest of your stay.

Google Maps

What this will do is the following. Nice easy start down 129 with some good clean bike familiarizing for a little while until we hit Old US-64 which starts the twists. Then we get a break until we get to Vogel State Park where we will run 180 over to Suches where T.W.O. is. Then we pick back up south to Porter Springs and over to Turner's Corner. We head back north to run the Blood Mountain run and then head over to Richard B. Russell Parkway hwy 348 south towards Helen.

Once we get back to 17 then we get some more pretty good twists climbing back up in the altitude towards Hiawassee. Shoot back over on 64 to Pick up Wayah Road and run that back over towards Robbinsville.

Total Distance: 213 miles and elapsed time: 6 hours + 30 mins fuel stop + 1 hour lunch = 8 hours
We will be able to make up time on the main highways and this route will be fun but not as tasking as the first Gatlinburg Trip where Rickster and everyone else all said they were tired of the curves.

I can get with you guys and show you some of the other roads to run for the other days if you like. I will bring my books that show rides for the area too.

So if we could plan on leaving out fueled and ready at 8:00 am then we should be back by 4:00 pm easy. But if everyone gets in town pretty late Saturday then we can bump the departure to 9:00 am. I'd like to run you guys down to Helen if we get the chance. If we are making good time then I can also add a little to it also.

But anyways. Check out the link and I hope you like.

nope, not in a recession.. we need to be eating dog food for that to happen.. complete crap..

Anywho really looking forward to this trip. Did a little riding around my parents and there were some twisty roads.. pretty cautious first time through cause i wasn't sure of the rock situation but hit a bit harder on the way back.. Hopefully get this fuel mileage crap figured out with looking at the spark plugs and a new air filter coming in soon.

Sean, the first time I rode down there I had good weather & no problems, and I was in Gatlinburg by 2:00 PM of my second day, but that was only because I rode almost 800 miles on the first day. Anyway, I figure if we don't have any problems & good weather this time we should be able to make Robbinsville by 4:00 PM on Saturday. That's figuring with Clint & Vinnie leaving St Cloud between 6 & 7 AM on Friday.

Clint and Vinnie should leave before 5:30 to beat MPLS/SP traffic. We should be in Tomah, or wherever, by 9:00 or before.

Throw in the two disasters in the East...especially the quake in China....it's going to drive raw materials up again...(one province lost 80% of its habitable dwellings), when they start to rebuild. So that'll make your job that much tougher. Not to throw gas on a fire....but man..........the world needs a break.

Good luck Clint.

If you guys leave St Cloud at 5:30, you will by in Maple Grove (north metro) at about 6:30. The north metro has some of the worst rush hour traffic in the cities, and 6:30 is when it starts, you will be stopped with your feet on the ground at least a half dozen times before you get to the 694 split and it only gets worse from there, all the way to the east metro where you split back onto 94. If you can reach the north metro by 6 you will miss 90% of the rush hour traffic.

My folke live in the Maple Grove area, and I live on the east side of St Paul, so I drive that section of road a lot, on good days it's a 30 min drive, durring rush hour it can be over 90 min.

I know 94 is the shortest route for you, but a quicker (because of rush hour) & less stressful one might be east on 95 to Mn 8 that runs east to Wi 53 where you turn south to Eau Claire where you can pick up 94 again.

And Tomah is a little further than you think it is, I doubt we will be there before 10 unless you guys want to leave St Cloud at 4:30. It's about a 4 hour ride for me from the east side od St Paul.

I usually take 95 to 8 but I was not sure if Clint would care for it. A few stops but no biggie over all. What say you Clint? 95 to 8?

It depends on how far we're trying to get. If it's 750 miles or more, I'd say we need to leave early and take the interstate.

I'm up for early. I can go to bed at 3:59 at still wake at 4:00. I'm funny that way. If we leave at 5:00 and haul azz we can get through the cities no problem.
