lol I thought I was the only one dropping money just to make it out of the city limits... New tires, brakes, helmet, glasses, and full service check scheduled for this weekend and I already got my new contacts from the doc. My saddlebags are shot, but i think i'll be fine with my luggage rack bag. I'd hope this expense doesn't keep up every year...

We might be able to bump into you just before we leave, (we head for home on June 4th) we will be staying at the Phillips motel in Robbinsville NC, the reservations are in Vinnie's name so just ask for the room of the group from Minnesota.
Otherwise you'll just have to be satisfied with us warming her up for you.

Got my bags in the mail today and I am really disappointed. Most bags I won't be able to work with and the ones that will work, windshield bag and tool bag will never hold up. So, I either buy some expensive bags or just use a couple heavy duffel bags. What say the rest of you with travel experience?

Duffel bags work as long as it doesnt rain. IMO, good enough if you don't do trips often.

Hey Everyone,
We went up there last weekend and rode it up and down it on Sunday. "J", a couple of the Misfits and myself tore it up.

Road conditions were good. LEO's were not to be seen and the traffic was respectable. Never know what will come of it when you guys go but at least the roads were good.

So what are the exact dates that you will be there? What dates will you be doing the Dragon and riding the Robinsville area?

I have posted a link to Zee Foto where you can see a pic of the Intruder and a pic of "J" on the twisties. Kill boy has some too. I have found that if I can crawl my big butt off the seat a little then the big fat cruiser doesn't drag a thing the whole time.

There are several pages with pics of us on there but you can get the idea from the above. Once you click on the link you can scan forward or backwards.

Anyways,, if someone doesn't mind posting the firm dates there might be a possibility of me riding up there if you guys will be there on the weekend.

Our plan is to arrive in Robbinsville late in the afternoon of the 31st of May, and start back home on the 4th of June.

That would be cool if you could meet up with us.

So what did "J" think of riding the Dragon on her own bike?

Man,, I was hoping you guys were going to be there Friday evening and ride the ride on Saturday. I will not be able to get off from work because one of my coworker's wife is having a baby and the other is off for vacation. What day are you guys actually riding the Dragon?

Oh well,, maybe next time. You guys be careful out there and ride safe.

"J" absolutely loves riding her own. Couldn't wipe that smirk off her face for a couple of days.

No problem with storage for me, I have a pair of 46 liter side bags, and two 35 liter trunks on the tail rack. I stack one trunk on top of the other. I usually come home with more stuff than I leave with, so I try and have one bag empty at the start of the trip, I've also been known to UPS stuff home if the load gets too big.
I got to thinkin' this morning about why you're taking the Strom, and then the genius of it hit me. Your other riding mates are all on Metrics, and if'n there be a problem, (Lord forbid), all of you can go to the local Yamakawahondazuki dealer together. By and large, one good tool kit will benefit all riders. Some parts may be interchangeable, etc. So on and so forth. Wouldn't be the same if you took the Road King.

Sean, we had tentatively decided to wait for Monday to ride 129. I've read that it's quite a zoo on the weekends, and I'm not riding all the way there to cruise in parade mode, if you know what I mean.

Of course, everything is flexible. Maybe we'll do Sunday, too. We're close enough.

I understand completely. What are your plans then for Sunday? Have you guys looked at riding NC-28, Wayah Road, and Warwoman Road?

Check this route out: Robinsville south on 129 to 19/74 North to Wayah Road south to 23/441 South to Warwoman Road to 28 North to 64/28 North staying on 28 North to 143 West back to Robinsville.

Thise are some really cool roads to run.

I'm planning to follow the other days. Monday morning, eat my dust!

(Then follow the cloud to where I'm lying in the rhubarb. Check the bike first.)

Yeah, I understand. It doesn't take much to total out a bike. Don't ask me how I know that.
