| I'm looking into swapping my stock SV650 shock for a better Kawasaki shock. I'm wanting to get an 05+ ZX6 shock. While I was looking around on eBay I noticed that the ZX6/ZX10/ZX14 shocks all look the same... Anybody know if there are any differences in these shocks? Different lengths, widths, etc? I looked up the spring rates for the shocks on RaceTech.com and they are all the same which got me thinking that maybe different models share the same suspension.... |

| I'd be very surprised if Kawasaki use the same internals but they certainly use the same parts bin casting for the rear shock body on a lot of these bikes. That said, the weights of these bikes don’t vary all that much so maybe they do use the same spring and internal valving. I have a ZX12-R which also looks the same as other bikes. Trouble is, the rear shock is not the best aspect of the bike's handling - Kawasaki sports bikes are renowned for having crappy rear shocks, and if you want to make the bike handle, you have to go Ohlins or Penske. I fitted a Hyperpro spring kit to my forks and shock which significantly improved the bike’s handling, then later I stumbled on a Penske rear shock cheap on ebay and it completely transformed the bike, best cash I've spent on the machine so far. The best bit about looking for Kawasaki rear shocks is that they’re easy to get hold of – because so many owners take them off and replace them with something good first chance they get! |

| Thanks for the reply. Since this post I have bought an 05 ZX6R shock. Its waaaay better than my stock SV shock (no compression dampening or rebound adjust, not to mention the weak spring). I realize its not as good as a Penske or Ohlins but it also literally cost about 20 times less
