Default New Ninja 650R???? What do you know??

Ok,, I have sat on them,, I have played vroom vroom in the dealership,, and I have even read the specs on it.

Does anyone know anyone or does anyone know a good deal about it???

Like gas mileage, will it tote a 220 pound man pretty well, is it quick or is it a slug? I currently have the 1500LC and it is a beast and I would like to find something a little more nimble for the ride to work. The new 650R sits pretty well and is actually a comfortable egronomic feel to it.

Any input would be welcome.

Yeah, but the riding position of the V-Strom puts more weight on your arms and more stress on your back. Do they make any bars that pull back more for the V-Strom???

Hmm, I wouldn't have thought that the riding position of the Strom was more straigth than the 650R...

You sure about this Sean?

It just felt that the Ninja had more of a neutral position with it just feeling like there was no weight on the forearms or wrists where the Strom feels like i was leaning more forward. I may be wrong but I guess I would need to go sit on the two side by side again.

Sean, glad to hear you're expanding your horizons. I would not hesitate to recommend the Ninja 650R as a second ride. I've sat on one and can indeed say that it is comfortable. I would have loved to test ride one though. I don't think this bike will have any issues hauling a 220lb man around, but it may involve some clutch play on certain situations, YMMV. I figure if this bike is powerful enough to do a wheelie, it can certainly haul yer big butt around.

Not that I'm trying to 'pimp' my ride or anything, but have you sat on an F4i yet? If so, do you feel there is more forward lean than you're willing to accept? Honda's VFR800 might also be another option to consider.

i saw the ninja for the second time at the dealer. it's ok, i do like the exhaust design/location but didn't think too much of the bike as a whole. interceptor is a very cool bike but supposedly the 98 was better than the new one?? dunno...when i sat on one i thought it was nice.

I think the v-strom is very neutral, but that's just me. One thing im loving alot is how it negates any irregularities, bumps in the road. This morning going over the same dip that would jolt me out of my M50's seat...as every car slowed down, i just gunned it. No fuss, no problems...fun as hell feel like a kid on a bicycle again with this thing...

*coughBuellcough*

Just kidding. The 650R looks like a great sporty standard. Not exactly sure what it's classified as, but that's how I describe it to people.

I am going to fix the '81 GS650G,, for $400.00 bones I can get it running,, get "J" and my brother up to speed. Then if neither of them wants to buy it from me I will have a good sport/standard to play on.

I am going to do some more investigating on the V-Strom and the 650R and once I get some dinero saved up I might get one at the end of the season. I'd like to have one for the commute. I am digging the front fairing on the V-Strom and the ability to take it off road in the dirt as well.
