Question confused

I have the 2007 v-star 1300. The service manual wants me to drain the coolant and remove the throttle bodies before adjusting the valve lash. Anyone know why? I haven't come across this before. I get removing the tank and pulling the plugs ( compression ) but why drain the coolant and pull the throttle bodies. Adjusting valve lash on any of the other machines I have had in the past was usally a pretty striaght forward process but not on this bike. Im a little confused. Any help?:
